A very taking performance just there to follow up his debut demolition. One jump in particular, I think it was 2-out, he really took off and jumped it beautifully.
Hobbs is very complimentary in the stable tour; a possible for the Neptune would you think?

Just got back from Chepstow. That was a most taking performance for a first run in a hurdle - definitely one to watch.
Looked like he'd get 3 m and Hobbs said he likes some cut in the ground. |

He was asked questions about the horse and he kept coming back smiling, i am probably reading too much into it.
We all know that this is supposedly one of the best novice hurdlers in his yard. But the way PH lit up when asked and came back when they cut him off. |

Sounds good, thanks! Very exciting for sure, I loved how easily he travelled at the head of things and put the race to bed. The 10.5 on here is perhaps a little short at this point in time though. I've be interested in some 16s.

That was a seriously impressive performance,id be amazed if he's not Grade 1 material

First novice performance this season that made me look up. There are lots of good ones to come of course but he jumped super. He's in the betting for all 3 novice races at the Festival but suspect he will run in the Neptune if the ground is slow or the Albert Bartlett if it is quicker.....if he gets there! Be very surprised if he has the speed for the Supreme.

I understand his next run will be in in the 2M 4F novice at the Paddy Power meeting. Previous winners include Black Jack ketchum and Diamond Harry I believe. As I will be there I am really looking forward to seeing this horse run.

If I could offer an observation of caution...
While his performance was clearly very impressive I did think he looked a touch awkward on landing a number of times. Possibly due to a lack of experience, however I think he's got chaser written all over him. |

If he was to win the Neptune I don't think we'd see double figures about him for next year's RSA!

The big problem with the novice hudlers is you often don't know which race they'll go for until about March 10th - this one could go for the Bartlett or the Neptune if it suits connections.

Strontium I agree, however last year I felt the same about Cue Card's first two runs and got my fingers well and truly burnt.
This year as far as the novice hurdlers go i'll be looking for the none too obvious flaws as opposed to the all too obvious qualities. |

Alex - Graham Sharpe at Billyhills used to give prices on these at request. Try that avenue. Mind you, the onc or twice I asked, the prices were laughable.

Early days but Fingal Bay, Frascati Park and Ace High are all interesting horses looking towards the festival for me. I can see Ace High going well in the NH chase.

I got a price upto and including 2018 GC.. pretty sure i know what im doing but before i do what price would you expect and what price would you take?

Ha good question Alex and good that they are laying him. In truth it should be virtually any price. It will surely be approx 30 months at least before he runs in the race, if of course he gets there. Massive if. The 2 most recent times I tried this, they did not get there. Value is in the eye of the beholder but if you like the price you have been given, back him. The price he should be, also, will almost certainly not be the price they lay him. He should be 100/1 (some will doubtless say bigger) but i can imagine they have laid 33s or 50s.

good evaluation- wanted 100s, given 50s... still debating as its obviously not value but its kind of a prestige thing holding a 3 year old winning ticket.

I agree Alex.
I am mad about NH racing and love having a bet but definately in that order. An ante-post bet like that, at this stage, is a sporting bet, so he is well worth having a punt on at that price - I would. Some will argue about fractions, percentages etc, but 50s is not insulting, nobody else will lay him, so as a bit of fun he is well worth it. I hope he turns out to be as promising as he looks. What impressed me most was the way he clattered that hurdle but didn't really miss a beat and stayed so well balanced. Always a good sign in a horse. |

He is a monster imo. The way he clattered that hurdle but picked himself up straight away is the exact attitude needed for festival winners. Plenty of pace for the neptune and bar one or two mistakes today his hurdling is electric.

top class horse deserves to be fav in fact im surprised hes not a good bit shorter if he were with nicholls hed be 4-1
i havent backed him unfortnately but ive been hugely impressed with him lovely horse.im on a horse called SIMONSIG who i saw win a bumper at fairyhouse he was extremely impressive and has now gone to henderson entered up friday meant to be special |

I wouldn't put anyone off this horse for the Festival. However, he may lack speed for this race on good to soft ground and could go for the Albert Bartlett. No doubt he will stay 3 miles, given the way he finishes his races. Sensible thing to do would be to back him for both.

10/1 best price now - about right I'd say.
With Lovethehigherlaw passign away I am now eagerly awaiting the hurdling debuts of Simonsig, Samain and especially Don Cossack  |

He didn't look short of speed to me, if anything he travelled too well and got to the front too soon. In a better race I think we may see a better performance.

As Hobbs reckons he needs at least the Neptune trip, I suspect he will be left in both races and a decision taken at the time based on the prevailing ground conditions.
