dm stated he would start at bangor[last week]

Lovely horse, always liked him since he won his bumper. Backed him for the Champion, beaten by a cracker.
My one doubt about him is he doesn't jump out at me as the type who is definitely going to be better over fences. Obviously got to be high on the short list though. |

re peddlers;
with jason out injured, maybe for some time[tho wishing him a full n speedy recovery]who does donald look to to ride his best horse? g lees out injured so will donald look towards a northern based jock who will be able to home school or just look for an on the day jockey? its just my guess but il be suprised if its not timmy,as hes more northern based than ever due to the mrs,and could prove a steady hand for settling the novice.personally id like to see ritchie mcgrath on board ,as i feel he,d be right for the job.. Alternatively a good judge mentioned to me today..paddy or sam could be available... Another question..will they be tempted to open up in a hurdle race to take the fizz out of peddlers now that jason is likely to miss his seasonal debut? |

Hopefully Paddy?

JASON MAGUIRE, who injured his neck in a fall at Cartmel last month, hopes to return to race-riding in the middle of November.
After visiting a specialist at Frenchay Hospital in Bristol on Tuesday evening, the jockey confirmed he had fractured a bone in the back of his neck. Maguire said: "I have fractured the C7 bone in the lower part of my neck and they have told me that I will be out until the middle to end of November. "I have to wear a neckbrace for the next six weeks after which they will put me in a soft collar and monitor the healing process. "It is going to be a very slow recuperative period but hopefully once the soft collar is on I can do plenty of physio, get my strength back up and look forward to getting back riding." The injury could not have come at a worse time for Maguire as he was second in the jockeys' table behind Tony McCoy on 49 winners with the core season fast approaching. The lay-off also means he is likely to miss the plum ride on last season's Champion Hurdle runner up, Peddlers Cross, who is due to have his first run over fences late October or early November. Some sort of confirmation that he is going chasing straight off? |

Dont know about that mate the last time we had a drink together I ended up getting a texi to the wrong end of the town before argueing with the driver then having to walk it home. Made it home for 6am that morning and missed racing LOL

aye,wasnt a bad night tho!
Looks like il buying buying the first one,if these posts prove to be correct |
By:
think its shortening because of pfn comments re;al ferof needing further than 2miles.
time will tell but im a fan of arkle winners needing to stay 2.4m |
By:
Agree mate. Al ferof has Arkle written all over him imo
By:
do u think he may need further?
By:
in time mate but look at noland.
He had a very similar profile for Hales and Nicholls winning the Supreme looking like he wanted further then turning up in the Arkle. I know the Jewson is a better Graded race now but Nicholls will want to have a big gun in the Arkle and unless Sam Winner gets his act together I can see Al ferof being the one. As with every year the Arkle looks a cracking race at thsi stage. I cant pick the winner but Im really intrigued to see how Menorah gets on over fences. |

nicholls has taken charge of 50new horses this year as he knew the old guard was nt going to keep up this year.i feel he may have plenty ammo without these 2.

PEDDLERS ON COURSE FOR BANGOR
Champion Hurdle runner-up Peddlers Cross is set for a mouthwatering early-season clash with Supreme Novices' Hurdle winner Al Ferof at Bangor next month. Donald McCain's six-year-old lost his unbeaten record at Cheltenham but went down fighting to Hurricane Fly. He was then disappointing at Aintree when generally considered to be over the top but McCain feels he can scale new heights over the bigger obstacles. "I haven't schooled him yet this time but obviously he won his point-to-point," McCain told At The Races. "All being well the plan is to head to Bangor on November 9 where he is due to meet Paul Nicholls' Al Ferof in a beginners' chase. "It will be a tough start but that's the plan. "I'm such a bad trainer I don't know what trip he wants yet! "He won over two-five as a novice at the Festival so you would expect him to get three (miles) but he got quicker and quicker last year so we're still very much in the dark. "He was second in the Champion Hurdle so he's obviously got an awful lot of boot for a chaser but there's no reason he shouldn't get further if we ask him. "The things I've seen him do are absolutely frightening so we've just got to try and keep him in one piece - he could be very special indeed." |

"the form man" apprears to want only to slate the price of 8s (now best 7) without any justification.
I wouldnt want to lay 4/1 from my own pocket to be honest. Huge chance if he jumps. |
By:
nov 9th thats a day not to miss
By:
win only
couldn't agree more.....peddlers is a classic case of "whatever he did over hurdles would be a bonus".....and he bustled up one of the better champion hurdlers we've seen in yonks!!! |
By:
V interesting 2m novice chase on Saturday.....forgotten horse Zaynar(now with Nick Williams) with potentially Rebel Rebellion (who Nicholls thinks alot of) , Toubab and Tiger O Toole also in the field. Do love it when the jumps season rolls into action .
By:
I agree Minger, good race. I have doubts about Toubab and Zaynar needs to be transformed but Rebel Rebellion looks potantially very smart (though surely wants a trip and some dig in the ground).
By:
If Zaynar is transformed and can jump,he is an exciting prospect.
IF!! |
By:
Agree it ia a big IF....Zaynar seems to have been around for years but is only 6...too much racing too young? Has won over £240k in prize money though . Re Rebel Rebellion I RemeMber Charlie Mann raving about him but he never quite got there on the track. Maybe the breathing op was all it took to sort him out- he should win this on Saturday.
By:
Toubab looks to have the scope for fences but mayeb not the engine... Zaynar an enigmna, previous owners def run out of patience with it.
By:
re Toubab he strikes me as bit of a flat track bully. When everything is in his favour looks a million dollars otherwise struggles as in the Tolworth.
By:
Toubab needs good ground. Probably a flat track also, but hope he runs on Saturday and gets some experience of Cheltenham as I have taken some triple figures about him for the Arkle.
By:
Interesting- surely his hurdles figures arent good enough?
By:
He's a better hurdler than Ghizao on the figures, and I think he has always looked like a chaser. Probably won't be good enough but I have followed him for a while so thought it worth a few quid at 100+.
By:
Fair play, if he has strengthened up and canjump no reason why not- looked very awkward last season.
By:
Not sure Nicholls will run Toubab and Rebel Rebellion in the same race on Sat - Toubab also entered for the beginners chase at Kempton the day after against the likes of Champion Court,Australia Day and Via Gallei......decent novice chases coming thick and fast.
By:
I'd be almost certain only one of them will run. I'm hoping Toubab as I think Rebel Rebellion will be better over further and have also backed him for the RSA. Would think he will keep Toubab to a flat track and send him to Kempton tho tbh.
By:
rebel rebellion has had a wind op.
By:
Yeah, he has run (and hacked up) in both his races since having the op duffy. Big future imo.
By:
and nicholls thinks that the horse wasn't quite right after he had the op!!!
