He seems to have been crabbed by a few people on here, and a few people ive spoken to personally; I don't see what's not to like about him!
I think he's honest, straight forward, jumps well enough, stays well, I think he's tough, and I think he's very much suited to McCoy's riding style!
If they don't send Kempes to the race next year, McCoy could well be free to take the ride and I think at the current odds you could do a lot worse than back him!
I think people don't though because he isn't particularly fashionable or classy. But he's an incredibly strong stayer and the extra 2f of the Gold Cup should really suit him, as he flew home in the RSA. As you rightly point out, McCoy suits this horse down to the ground, but with the likes of Long Run and Weapon's Amnesty around next year I'm not convinced he has the quality to win a Gold Cup.
Lovely horse all the same though. National type maybe?

Dont know to be honest, tough horse like the other RSA horses. Bostons Angel for one is a horse that just wont be beaten,i like that in a horse very much.Wayward Prince was catching at the end, very likeable horse as well,as are all the RSA horses.

I also like him, backed him ew in the RSA this year at 20/1 - there's nothing to dislike about him.
However, at no point in the race did he look like winning. Really admirable attitude, but as Joist said, I'd much prefer him in the National than the Gold Cup

I fear he might be one of those horses who prove too good for a feasible racing weight in the National but not quite good enough for the Gold Cup. Could snare an early/late season weaker Grade 1 I suppose, but he needs 3 miles minimum so choices aren't exactly plentiful.

Is it the way this horse travels through his races like a dream or the awesome grade 1 credentials of Ian Williams that most leads you to believe that this horse could win a Gold Cup?

think he will be competing at grade 1 level start of next season.of course its debatable how far he can go in the game, and he may prove not up to it,thats the thing with novices. he did not travel great in the RSA but he certainly has other qualities and his never stop battling attitude bodes well for him.

I didn't rate his chances in the RSA, opposed him in a match bet and it cost me, but I have to say that he came up that hill better than anything all week but the first words I muttered were 'Grand National', I think he'd have an outstanding chance round Aintree

Officially rated 150, so on the basis of this year's weights, he'd be carrying dead on 11 stone; could be very plausible for next year's National if kept to the right races and aimed specifically at it.
