I can't believe you can still get 60/1 on What a Friend for the National - he ran a cracker today and Nicholls said he now heads to the National
Report FOYLESWAR March 18, 2011 8:37 PM GMT
wellchief at that price its got to be worth a £10-20 bet if he takes to the big fences ,he will be nowhere near that price on the day

I thought What A Friend was headed for Scottish National?
Report wellchief March 18, 2011 9:31 PM GMT
Sorry, my mistake.

I saw Paul Nicholls on twitter say What a Friend heads for the National, when he meant the Scottish one and not the Aintree one - although I think he should run at Aintree off his current mark
Report ReaseHeath March 18, 2011 9:37 PM GMT
he's still among the entries for Aintree. Might come a bit quick after today's race and they might think he needs another year.

Of course, a years a long time and there is an argument that they should strike whilst the iron's hot - looks like he's a good ground Spring horse either way.

Nicholls column on here now stating WAF 'highly likely' to run in Grand National on good ground (Totesport Bowl otherwise).

Apologies, wellchief - was n't trying to put you away - Scottish National definitely mentioned as likely target in immediate aftermath of Gold Cup.

Fergie said scottish national. But WAF is a stone well in for the national. Be a mega payout for me if he can win it
Report FOYLESWAR March 21, 2011 2:26 PM GMT
he does look well in just wonder what the gold cup took out of him  and what the ratio of time he needs between races, will it come too soon ,one other point not knocking the horse but when he had that head to head with denman in hennesey he looked to me as tho he didnt relish an all out war but then again he is unlikly to meet such an out and out grinder again .

So what horses have swerved Cheltenham to go straight to Aintree? I know for Nicholls, Silviniaco Conti, Rebel Rebellion and Royal Charm.

Any other note worthy horses?
