Seems to be repeating this a lot hope he isnt tempting fate now there is a viable challenger.

Couldnt fancy a big bet when the trainer is even mentioning defeat at this stage, great horse that he is and drifting seemingly great value now.

Sure if he lost he will be picking up the mantle from Kauto and Denman next season what else has Nicholls got for the Gold Cup half as talented. Will Nicholls be more happy if he wins or loses the Stayers when looking ahead?

I wouldn't be surprised if they went chasing if he won or lost to be honest.  Grands Crus has a couple of years on him, so there will come a time when they will have to go back chasing.  I think Grands Crus would be a bigger danger next year than this year if BB stayed over hurdles.

Phillip Hobbs has said many times about Menorah going novice chasing next year, but that wouldn't stop me backing him for the Champion Hurdle

Also, agree that he is now great value, and Nicholls has made him his banker of the festival.

Owner said previously he was staying hudling think Nicholls has other ideas.

staying hurdling

Said the same before last year, dont matter

Has Nicholls come out and said if he wins he will be staying over hurdles yet? Just wondered.

Some strangely good prices in him now ... wtf?
Report eric_morris • March 10, 2011 9:37 PM GMT
on him now.

Backed him 5s his first Stayers, 3s his 2nd never thought you would get 11/8 the week before his 3rd?

Reckon he'll go chasing next year whatever happens, Nicholls always, always needs to have a viable Gold Cup contender, whether he would be that with his jumping is another matter, though he does seem a more straightforward racehorse these days. I think the dissapointment the has been What a Friend, the injury to Michel le Bon and the death of Pride of Dulcote will have caused Nicholls to implore Andy Stewart to change his mind and give it a go. Also Stewart may never have another like this fella and why not try?

stewart did say before that he reckoned if big bucks came up against tfr in a chase he be nearly sure time for rupert wud win. i think the stayers hurdle is there for the taking, id keep him running in it if he wuz mine..... but he aintLaugh

indeed reve could be the best thing for the horse but could you imagine Nicholls without a Gold Cup contender. I'm actually forgetting Aiteenthirtythree here but Nicholls is predominantly a trainer of staying chasers and its what BB was bought for, I think he'll give BB a shot in next seasons Hennessey, hes still rated in the 150's over fences I think so worth atry, he nearly won the thing when he could'nt jump

yogi breisner jobLaugh hed want to be winnin the hennessy well to have a hope. 2 stone well in on hurdles form! ah i dount nicholls would do it, he could face losing his few bob on 1833 at 33/1Laugh

Nicholls wins trainers Championships with staying chasers. Unless Aiteen Thirtythree turns out to be special he would rather pack up training than keep Big Bucks over hurdles imo he is that competitive. How does that lie with the owner who seems the biggest pessimist in the history of racing re his horses, comment above re Time For Rupert and Ghizao recently. Why bother having expensive horses in training to diss their chances continually ... where is the fun in that? Realism yes but pessimism ... what's the point in taking part?
Report revedesivola • March 10, 2011 10:30 PM GMT
well he did say before that after bb fell in the hennessy and paul reccomended stayers hurdling that he didnt like the idea at all but knew that nicholls knew best. id say nicholls could convince him of anything
