Ronaldo Des Mottes |

Everything you say is right except his Cheltenham form is terrible. Top class horse otherwise and could easily win a decent race off this mark but think either the Ladbroke or Tote Gold Trophy were his best chances this year. Possibly Liverpool.

@ Gruise d. With all respect I think your reading a but too much into things concerning Ronaldo De Mottes.
He hasn't been deliberately laid out all season for the County. At his best he would have gone close in the Tote, his intended race and an ideal opportunity to go for a touch if they thought he was right. With him it's surely down to whether they can get him back to his best or not and then some before thinking about plots. Very good horse on his day but he may be a bit better off with GMOOH but he's still 7lbs wrong IMO and I doubt if capable of winning the County. In short not only do they have to get him back to his best but they also have to improve him by 1/2 a stone just to win a decent race. Hence his current price. |

Agree with Booster, needs a flatter track imo

He is still a young horse tbf.

I can't see why he wouldn't be able to improve the 7lbs you say he needs to, he's very lightly raced and his form in France was with their best horses.

Going straight to Aintree David Pipe states today

I think Pipe has said he could run Saturday but then skip Chelts for Aintree.
If he does run on Saturday and win then surely they would have to go to chelts without a penalty and go for the bonus though? I know the horse hasn't shown much at chelts but if he runs and wins on Saturday surely they have to go for it? Pipe quotes:- Ronaldo Des Mottes could run in the Imperial Cup on Saturday but he misses Cheltenham. Arrayan is entered in my father's race and the County Hurdle. He's in the Imperial Cup at Sandown on Saturday, though he's not a definite runner in that yet. Surely there must be somke and mirrors in one of the above two quotes? I agree he has shown nothing at the track to do date. He is only 6 though, still enough time to prove he handles the track.
I still think he is a bet to nothing. If he hoses up can you hoses up in the Imperial Cup he has gotta go for the bionus whilst swerving a penalty. It'd be madness not to wouldn't it? If you back him now nrnb for the V O'Brien and he doesn't show you've got your dough back. However if wins on Saturday and they decide to run you are on the favourite at a big price! |
