He was on the local radio last week and advised it was good to soft, soft in places. Further rain since but now dry and cold. Won't have dried out much (if any!) so far but not a lot more due as far as I know.

am a little suprsing the betting on the going first day has good to soft marked as 4/10 chance. Considering Claisse has said each year this is his preferred going and he feel's its on track i was thinking this is quite big. Haven't looked at the forecast mind but two weeks out isnt the most accurate anyway

Whatever the going, Claisse can be relied upon to describe it officially as Good to Soft at the start of racing on day 1.

Hi all,

Just keep an eye on it at Turftrax.

Also, the weather forecast is good so as per EVERY year, they'll water a little and the ground will be Good to Soft, Good in places (mix those words up and it's be a combo of those [:)])

Currently Good, good to soft in places but the ground is drying all the time

Long range forecast on Metcheck is for dry up to Wednesday next week, then rain most days up to the Tuesday. Cold and windy start to the Festival if they are accurate!

Currently soft, good to soft in places according to Claisse in the Racing Post.

Course drains quickly so with bit of luck perfect racing ground.

Don't like the long term weather forecast [:(]

Probably the drainage works TOO well, and thats why they try and micro manage it....
Report bbsband March 3, 2011 1:21 AM GMT
ground needs sun to dry it regardless of drainage..
proper good to soft racing ground forcast..
it will be good to soft without a doubt

Had my annual 'bet of the year' on good to soft with SidJames yesterday at 2/5Shocked

The long range forecasts are for it to stay dry but cold. Plenty of sunshine so although not going to bake the ground hard it should dry out nicely. Maybe some showers (even sleet) towards the end of next week (depends which forecast you look at) but nothing substantial.
Not sure he'll water, I guess this time next week the going will be good to soft, good in places, so if the forecast showers don't arrive he may water the weekend before the festival to maintain it.
