He was on the local radio last week and advised it was good to soft, soft in places. Further rain since but now dry and cold. Won't have dried out much (if any!) so far but not a lot more due as far as I know.

am a little suprsing the betting on the going first day has good to soft marked as 4/10 chance. Considering Claisse has said each year this is his preferred going and he feel's its on track i was thinking this is quite big. Haven't looked at the forecast mind but two weeks out isnt the most accurate anyway

Had my annual 'bet of the year' on good to soft with SidJames yesterday at 2/5
The long range forecasts are for it to stay dry but cold. Plenty of sunshine so although not going to bake the ground hard it should dry out nicely. Maybe some showers (even sleet) towards the end of next week (depends which forecast you look at) but nothing substantial. Not sure he'll water, I guess this time next week the going will be good to soft, good in places, so if the forecast showers don't arrive he may water the weekend before the festival to maintain it.
