If Garde Champetre turns out in the Cross Country chase, which it more than likely will, it means that L'Ami will race with about 10st 5lbs. It was 2nd last year so it knows the course well and the trip will also be fine. Since it won over the Banks course at Punchestown in Nov, connections have kept it to hurdles to keep its handicap mark intact. Add to it that "lay246" (think about itHappy) are going nrnb and best odds, 1/4 first 4, at 6-1 you cant kick this out the frame and could quite easily win the race. I would advise you to get on, like me
Pause Switch to Standard View imo, a bet to nothing

king johns castle will be the mcmanus plot horse in the cross country [;)]
Report inchcailoch February 27, 2011 7:11 PM GMT
King johns refused to run in the national, so maybe the occasion will get to him again, he is a horse I would never trust to go through with his effort either.

How will L'Ami get 10st 5lb ?
He finished 3.5 lengths in front of Garde Champetre in receipt of 8lb at last years renewal, GC has since been beaten by Lacdoudal at the November meeting and whilst he's guaranteed to carry top weight he must be dropped from last years mark whilst L'Ami is likely to go up (following his Punchestown success).
I think GC is the each way certainty of the week
Report Howdi February 27, 2011 7:21 PM GMT
if GC is a cert each way what happened last year....

He made a horror mistake about 8 from home, had Nina clinging round his neck for a few strides (very uncharacteristic) but he came back on the bridle and was cruising 2 out and got badly hampered as thy came out onto the course proper, that crimaging caught a few out and the front 2 just got away, think he was beaten around 5 lengths and I don't remember Nina being too hard on him up the hill

Willie,

I'm pretty sure the weights on X-C handicap races are done separately much like the Grand National is.

I'm guessing you have worked out L'ami will get 10st 5,as on official ratings GC is 158 and L'ami is 137.

However they will not run of these ratings in XC ratings. L'ami ran off 153 last year. His rating of 137 I think comes from if you like when he last ran in a normal h'cap chase (28 Nov 09) off 138, and since then he's been dropped a 1lb to 137.

I'd imagine he will be 150+ and will be carrying something around the 11st 5lbs mark.

Sizing Australia & Another Jewel for me.

L'Ami doesn't know how to win at the Festival and is getting on, as is Garde Chapetre.

One Cool Cookie is the winner...and if it creeps in at the bottom of the Grand National, has a squeek there too.

Willie unfortunately L'Ami has been given 11st 11, just a lb below Garde.

any1 fancy king john castle , looked ok when 2nd behind lami last time out , ive been matched at avg 21 on here only for a couple of quid but that 20 could be big come the day

Ha Ha - what wally said L'Ami will be on 10 5lbs lol

I think AB will wom the race in a canter.
Report Mayweather March 2, 2011 1:11 PM GMT
L'Ami does not find off the bridle. The last two years he travlled like the winner and found nothing from the last fence.
I would leave him alone this time.
