The form of its 2nd to Grand crus at nov. meeting working out well, 6 subsequent wins, forget his challow run as was held up by the weather, looks a fair mark on 135.

Report Far From Trouble February 26, 2011 11:12 PM GMT
Aegean Dawn in the County? Confused Imperial Cup run would suggest so
Report Far From Trouble February 26, 2011 11:12 PM GMT
backed FNS at 10/1 today, think the Grands Crus form is solid Cool
Report revedesivola February 26, 2011 11:14 PM GMT
o right, i thought he was going to the coral cup. fns looks well handicapped anyhow, id be surprised if he didnt start fav
Report Far From Trouble February 28, 2011 5:51 PM GMT
He could well be reve, just my opinion that if they are lining AD up for the Imperial, the County would seem the obvious plan. Extra 2 day break as well.

For what its worth For Non Stop is looking like my best bet of the festival
Report revedesivola February 28, 2011 6:06 PM GMT

Report hemsby March 2, 2011 1:18 PM GMT
I make it he's no: 69 in the weights.....needs over half of the entries above him to come out to get a run
Report woodworm March 2, 2011 1:34 PM GMT
Quite a few above him have multiple entries but touch and go.
Whats the maximum field 30 runners?
Report hemsby March 2, 2011 1:38 PM GMT
I think its 28!
Report simon March 2, 2011 1:46 PM GMT

Report Target Man March 2, 2011 2:01 PM GMT
Last year Shadow Dancer was no28, last in (final decs). At this stage last year at initial handicap weight publications SD was 101st in list. In 2009, no 98 was last in.

For Non Stop must have a very good chance of getting in, currently 69th on list.

I'm going to make myself very unpopular on here.

FNS's run behind Grand Cru looks fine when you consider the winner is now rated 43lbs higher. However he won with the proverbial ton in hand that day (and in his 2 subsequent races) so rather than rate FNS through Grand Cru how about the horses that finished behind them both that day?

3rd Kings Legacy - one subsequent run, beaten 51 lengths.
4th Hidden Keel - switched to fences.
5th Cappagh - one subsequent run beaten 18.5 lengths
6th Mister Hyde - won at Plumpton NTO then beaten 32 lengths in his subsequent start.
7th Rock County - finished 6th & 7th in his w subsequent races in Ireland off a rating 5lbs below his UK mark.
8th Heez a Cracker - in his next 3 runs he was beaten 35 and 38 lengths with a win at Huntingdon sandwiched between.
9th Lush Life - won his next race, a Cheltenham handicap, by 1 1/4 lengths and a nose. Subsequently beaten 54 lengths.
10th Russian War - trained by Gordon Elliott. Has not seen the track since.

I gave up after that but accept that horses placed 11th or worse may have done something to boost the form. However there are an awful lot of horses listed above who have as yet done nothing for it.

I would argue that beating that lot, even by 11 lengths and more, is not exactly earth-shattering form, particularly as he now runs off a 10lbs higher mark.

FNS's only subsequent run behind the ill-fated Backspin, Court in Motion (rated 146)  and Al Ferof (rated 142) was an excellent effort and if anyone uses that race to suggest he is at least 7lbs well in off 135 I would have no problem in accepting it.
Report Far From Trouble March 2, 2011 6:21 PM GMT
For Non Stop and Grands Crus were travelling much the best of the field a fair way out iirc, we weren't to know how well in Grands Crus actually was at that time and For Non Stop certainly gave him more of a race than he's had since. Although up a fair few pounds in the handicap since that run I think there's enough improvement in him to suggest winning off a mark of 135 is entirely likely.
Let us not forget he was well fancied for the Challow despite his interrupted prep and was still far from disgraced.

Still think he is the best bet of the festival imo
Report rhinestone March 2, 2011 6:25 PM GMT
Grand Crus was given a far more enterprising ride than FNS at Cheltenham that day.
