Trainer leaning towards the longer race(jewson) but not committing just yet
Report eric_morris February 25, 2011 12:08 PM GMT
He goes for the Pendil at Kempton then it is either the Arkle or the Jewson according to recent quotes.

The Pendil may have an affect on plans just as AP's advice to connections the Arkle will come too soon for Starluck, Johnson may have a better idea on whether the Arkle or Jewson is most suitable for Captain Chris.
Report Brownes Gazette would have won February 25, 2011 1:50 PM GMT
The sensible route would appear to be the Jewson. It doesn't seem to have the pace required for the Arkle as demonstrated by several bits of its form but 2m 5f would seem to give it an obvious chance.
Report Redford_Blade February 25, 2011 3:08 PM GMT
Brownes, that is my thought process, think the Arkle will put to much pressure on him, whereas the Jewson will allow CC to get into a nice rhythm...
Report babypatch February 25, 2011 3:22 PM GMT
from last night got feeling they both are going for the jewson both being captain chris and wishful thinking
Report flyingbolt February 25, 2011 3:26 PM GMT
He won't win either. He needs to go right handed.
Report horse9 February 25, 2011 9:29 PM GMT
I heard they were favouring the Arkle.
It looks a weak heat this year...
Report unclepuncle February 25, 2011 9:33 PM GMT
Can't see them running both in the Jewson - if they prefer the Jewson over the RSA for Wishful Thinking, then, assuming he wins as he should tomorrow, then I'd expect Captain Chris to go for the Arkle.
Report Alvarado February 25, 2011 9:45 PM GMT
win tomoz skip chelts/aintree and wait for punchestown on good/fast ground and most importantly its RIGHT HANDED hes a stone better horse that way round
Report bring on chelt!!! February 25, 2011 10:22 PM GMT
Jewson blindingly obvious
Report eric_morris February 25, 2011 10:39 PM GMT
A lot more money waiting to back him the Arkle than the Jewson on here.
Report saxon farm February 25, 2011 11:01 PM GMT
flyingbolt is correct.
Report eric_morris February 25, 2011 11:08 PM GMT
The RSA is looking the best novice chase with Time For Rupert, Jessie's Dream, Aiteen Thirtythree, Wymott, Wayward Prince and others. Would im,agine the Jewson is far easier to win for Wishfull Thinking and he has won at the trip at Cheltenham really well already. Captain Chris on better ground may close the gap on Ghizao in the Arkle.

A lot depends on tomorrows race imo.
Report eric_morris February 26, 2011 2:58 PM GMT
Hated the ground there you could tell he wasnt stretching as well as he can near the close. Needs a good ground Arkle to show his best as pointed out by Wiseprice this morning sure he will head that way now with a win under his belt. He is a massive danger to all in the Arkle.
Report bring on chelt!!! February 26, 2011 3:04 PM GMT
Jewson all the way and going to invest...
Report eric_morris February 26, 2011 3:23 PM GMT
Like all great 2 mile chasers such as Moscow Flyer, Azertyuiop and Well Chief he also gets two and a half miles.

Nick Luck commented he jumped straight as a die there and not to his right, he had a clear view of his fences unlike last time out. Some really classy 2 mile chasers in the Arkle this season.
Report bring on chelt!!! February 26, 2011 3:26 PM GMT
and the Jewson LOL
Report eric_morris February 26, 2011 3:29 PM GMT
Also the Racing Post Chase winner today paying a massive compliment to Time For Rupert who went great in a gallop yesterday surely the Jewson gives Wishfull Thinking a way better chance of a Festival victory than the RSA he has shown v good form at that trip at Cheltenham already.
Report bring on chelt!!! February 26, 2011 3:31 PM GMT
"The Jewson could be the easier race. I've got Wishfull Thinking for that, but I could run both because they have got the same owners."  Philip Hobbs
Report rhinestone February 26, 2011 3:37 PM GMT
He didn't jump right because the running rail was on the right. Silly
Report bring on chelt!!! February 26, 2011 3:41 PM GMT
You can still get 8's in a place for the Jewson..cracking value
Report eric_morris February 26, 2011 3:43 PM GMT
Being left in the Arkle and Jewson "probably make a decision as late as possible" according to Hobbs. Think they will be watching the ground however you would think it unlikely they wont have one in each race with Johnson up in both.
Report bring on chelt!!! February 26, 2011 3:45 PM GMT
You missed a bit Eric!

"We'd rather run two in the Jewson and finish first and second than not win at all."
Report eric_morris February 26, 2011 3:46 PM GMT
No, you missed the bit I posted from your quote actually. The SLife sight shows that.

Report Brownes Gazette would have won February 26, 2011 3:48 PM GMT
Looks almost certain to go for the Jewson. You'd want to play to the horses strengths which are stamina over speed. Also, not the greatest of jumpers and this is less likely to be as exposed over the longer trip where they are going a yard slower.
Report eric_morris February 26, 2011 3:48 PM GMT
Basically you can only back Captain Chris none runner no bet until the decion is announced probably the weekend before the Festival.
Report bring on chelt!!! February 26, 2011 3:49 PM GMT
Eric on behalf of an awful lot of posters thank you for providing us with such entertainment you are simply hillarious and can brighten up any day...i cant stop laughing so keep up the good work.
Report eric_morris February 26, 2011 3:56 PM GMT
We'll see who is laughing on the 19th March after the Festival. You are surely the clueless blusterer Ballydoyle under a different name on here. Wondered where he was after his hilarious attempts last Festival never to be heard of since.
Report Brownes Gazette would have won February 26, 2011 3:58 PM GMT
So enlighten me Eric, what was your poster name prior to 27 June 10?
Report eric_morris February 26, 2011 4:13 PM GMT
I have made a lot of predictions on here making people as clueless as you look daft then have to put up with them stalking me afterwards as they cant accept how useless they are. Ring any bells. I sometimes end up telling them where to go in Anglo Saxon so they then crawl onto the phone running to their mummy. You next?
Report Brownes Gazette would have won February 26, 2011 4:18 PM GMT
You are getting all confused again; I'm asking for your username prior to your latest hideaway after being proved wrong. You weren't the guy that thought Washington Irving was the next See You Then?
Report sintonian February 26, 2011 4:45 PM GMT
It's got to the stage where I actually feel sorry for Eric. He makes so many enemies on here with his abrasive ways it has to be a mental health issue.

And as for making people look silly, well, again, the only person he is deluding is himself, im afraid. I can recall at least 5 losing bets since the turn of the year and no winners.

My form is terrible, but you wont find me in denial. LaughCry
Report gutfeeling February 26, 2011 5:30 PM GMT
wins the arkle*checks ante-post bets...nope havent backed him*....doesnt have a hope of winning the arkle.

any indications from connections after todays race plse?
Report paulo47 February 26, 2011 7:20 PM GMT
The uprights at the fence sides helped to keep him straight , that said he still hit one !
Report Redford_Blade February 26, 2011 10:34 PM GMT
Ahhhhhh, want to back CC, around 7/1 on here but very frustrating (owner/trainers choice) until a final choice is made...
Report FOYLESWAR February 26, 2011 10:47 PM GMT
erics right, that if you are thinking of backing captain chris wait till nrnb ,if you back him now for any race you are on a hiding to nothing he shouldnt get much shorter for either race imo
Report eric_morris February 26, 2011 11:45 PM GMT
Noble Prince will most likely win the Jewson. He needs a trip and quicker ground the Jewson right up his street can see a big gamble developing on him.
Report sintonian February 27, 2011 10:29 AM GMT
you can get NRNb at 3-65.
Report very promising February 27, 2011 7:14 PM GMT
isnt the logical thing for cc to go for arkle in an open year when same connections have wishfull thinking still in jewson which would have a good chance (8/10-1 currently)
Report eric_morris February 27, 2011 8:20 PM GMT
Agree, Captain Chris on a line through Medermit, who is now Arkle fav on here, being beaten only half a length by him after numerous jumping mistakes by CChris would give him an outstanding chance in the Arkle with a clear round. He has jumped really well on his chasing debut at Cheltenham and has good memories of the course/trip.

If both Wishfull Thinking and Captain Chris go for the Jewson there is every chance the 'all your eggs in one basket' strategy will fall flat on its face with Noble Prince perfectly suited to that race and likely to become a major Irish gamble as the race approaches.

Should be a no brainer especially when Dickie Johnson thinks Arkle  but who knows what they will do.
Report sintonian February 27, 2011 8:22 PM GMT
They'll go to quick for him in the Arkle.
Report horse9 February 27, 2011 8:23 PM GMT
I know Hobbs said at last weeks preview evening that they'd make a decision after this weekend
Report bring on chelt!!! February 27, 2011 9:12 PM GMT
Arkle too quick agree
Report eric_morris February 27, 2011 9:19 PM GMT
bring on chelt you are right to be worried as Captain Chris will beat Your bet Finians Rainbow in the Arkle if he goes there.
Report horse9 February 27, 2011 9:19 PM GMT
Doesn't look a great Arkle to me though....
