Lovethehigherlaw won its bumper well and the second has won since.W.Mullins says he may not go to Chelts,he will have to talk to the owners.Yet still no drift in the betting.

Decalec. He may have said it about Samain but i am sure he said it about Lovethehigherlaw.I backed it before its run@25/1,my local Billies shop phoned for me.Then i was gutted to hear he may go for a winners bumper elsewhere.

He definitely said that Lovethehigherlaw wouldn't be going to Cheltenham (was looking at a winners bumper and then Punchestown).
But with Mullins you just never know what to believe.

I took some 150/1 about Gagewell Flyer there for the AB, seemed huge to me given he's won 3 races on the trot over here and said this after he won over 2m4f on heavy last month
Willie Mullins said: "Gagewell Flyer is improving all the time and Emmet gets those horses jumping well. He has ridden three winners for me in the last week.
"He will have no problem staying three miles and we'll look at the Neptune or the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham with him."
He has So Young for the Neptune and Bishopsfurze can't hurdle so mightn't go to the Festival.
Might have a run for my €5 @ 150 possibly?

I backed Gagewell Flyer for the Neptune after his last race after reading this
"Paul was delighted with his jumping and he'll go for the Neptune and won't run before.
"I'm alsodelighted with Earlson Gray. We'll keep him in novice hurdles for the time being."

Decalec.I thank you sir, fingers crossed. CVByrne and Pocket Aces.May the luckiest man win. That 150 is impressive, although if the Gage goes for the A.B.It would increase my chances of a run. Perhaps someone could help me?I have had a nibble on For Non Stop in the Martin Pipe Conditional and have been keeping an eye on the market.27 to back is showing and yet it has been removed on the market info graph.Surely this cant be right when the market is closed.Excuse me if i am wrong.

I believe the plan for Call the Police was always the County Hurdle but as he ran well last time over 2m3f WM has not discounted the Coral Cup.....it seemed to me he was leaning to the County as that was the original plan. Obviously Chelts has the hill and he wanted to see if he stayed a little over 2m to get a view if he would stay up the hill...perfect prep for the County me thinks.

Yet Mullins is going for the Neptune over the shorter distance. He always calculates the hill into the staying power of the horse hence why I think Call The Polive will go for the County....a stronger finish up the hill anticipated.

You gotta love mullins, gagewell flyer now likely to go for the albert bartlett meaning that 150/1 bet should be live one.
With lovethehigherlaw he said he was not going to cheltenham with him from day one.

I read sportinglife.com/racing and the racing post app every few hours. Then there's irishracing.com is a good site. He also has his site wpmullins.com where you get info on every runner. Then there's his column on sundays in the racing post. Then there's the stuff only we have access too irish papers. I read both the racing sections of irish independent and irish times daily to glean info that doesn't make it to the internet.
How this helps. I got the info on gagewell flyer in his stable tour in yesterdays weekender. He said punchestown and not cheltenham after love the higher law won his debut race. I think I read that on sporting life.

yep i read the 3 websites daily, his website only really has basic info on his season long aims for each horse. there seems to be a lot of info in the racing post that isnt added to the website (or is just hard to find)- im interested in another juve hurdler or his, did he have any further running plans sorted?

He said zaidpour hours for the supreme and he has huge faith in him and tatts him his best chance of the meeting.
Yes you read that right, not quevega or fly, zaidpour his best chance. I took note of that and layed out of my bet on here and backed him with paddyp and their refund losing bets if cue card wins.

nice- unfortunately i backed at 9 on here a while back, just hoping CC is taken off the bridle in the big field and NH's a more hype than solid form. Not that this one is any different.
still not the novice hurdler i was interested in ;)...

just never really taken a fancy to blackstair- he'd be in the CH instead of 1000stars if he was that would and while the mark is competitive i dont think its enough for this one to win.

I like Blazing Tempo for the Centenary Novices chase on Day 1
20/1 with Sid James who go 5 places ew but not doing NRNB yet - shortened in a few places today (and on here), but as the title of the thread says I'm too scared to second guess Willie when its not NRNB

I also like Blazing Tempo, very natural jumper. But she's in lots of races, and with the Centenary weights very tight at the top, do you think she might be better off with the mares' allowance in one of the conditions races ?

I would have expected more of a reaction in the markets for Day of a Lifetime in the Supreme? Has this really been confirmed for the race.Remember it is Willie.

Having said that we all know the score, when betting you have to trust your own judgement to get the better prices. Willie is by no means the worst offender, he just has a lot of very nice horses!

He's got a really strong team this year; small stakes 8/1 wouldn't be the worst bet for top trainer.
He has live chances with Zaidpour, Hurricane Fly, So Young, Golden Silver, Quel Esprit, Quevega, Call the Police, Allure of Illusion and outside chances with Gagewell Flyer, Jy Vole, Mikael, Blazing Tempo and Kempes.

I have never backed a Willie Mullins horse for the wrong race. Ever. That's the truth. So it's not like he is some enigma. Some horses are hard to figure out where they go so just back them nrnb for the race you fancy them for.

I backed Mikael D'Haguenet for the Arkle @ 28.0 and 50.0 and layed back at 44.0 once he skipped the Irish arkle he was RSA bound imv. So I backed Mikael for the RSA before he disappointed a lto. Not confident on him at all.
I have backed Quel Esprit for the RSA, I backed him before he jumped a fence as Mullins was talking about him as an RSA horse before he'd even jumped a hurdle. His troubled season and fall lto had caused Mullins to rethink his plans and switch to the 4 miler but he was impressive in the race course gallop and so was switched back to the original target of RSA.
I have not backed Day of a Lifetime but Mullins thinks Neptune is the race for him given he is NH bred and will lack speed of the flat horses, also Rich Richie owns Zaidpour so he's not going to run both horses in the same race as his other Ballyhaunis isn't good enough for the Neptune so goes for the Coral cup I think.
Golden silver is likely to take his chance in the Champion Chase.
I've Hurricane Fly bakced for the Champion hurdle Zaidpour for the Supreme Gagewell Flyer for the Albert Bartlett
I added So Young nrnb for the Neptune I've Blackstair Mountain nrnb for the County.

lol ... virtually had a campaign bus going for him to run in the Arkle on here then when it was obvious to the Pope who doesnt even bet that he wasnt going there, switched allegiances to the RSA.

Of course no-one knows what Willie is going to do. Fanatsic trainer but you'd have more joy getting blood from a stone, case in point Quel Esprit the last week

To be fair mate Quel was NHC bound after his troubled campaign until that gallop and Mikael's flop over 2m at Leopardstown put paid the his Arkle plans so I've been a bit lucky recently. I'm still down on Mikael for the Arkle unless anyone wants to take my lay that's up there at the moment
Point is when you back horses at those odds like Mikael for the Arkle and Gagewell for the AB you're doing it for small stakes and in full knowledge that the risk of a non runner is factored into the price.
I'll get caught some day, but my point is I never heavily back a Mullins horse unless I'm confident where it's going.

I know there's a risk punting etc etc, but something should be done about it all. Certain ones are ok for example going for race A if it's soft or race B if it's good ground. Or even if he said we haven't decided whether to go for RSA or the NH yet, that's all he needs to do. He's done it for year's and is a disgrace. Henderson's getting quite bad as well.
Nicholls is open and you can trust him when he nominates a target.

Thats because he had planned to go for the 4 miler after Quel fell in the PJ Moriarty at Leopardstown. Then on reflection and after discussing it with the owners they felt since he was impressive in the gallop he deserved to go for the RSA. Anyway b365 were nrnb at the time so any backers who are not morons would have backed with them.

Did you read my post at all? He'd hardly discussed it with the owners when he was interviewed immediately after the gallop. He was RSA bound for the whole season and when they discussed plans after the gallops (I assume a few days after) they must've decided to go with the original plan.
I can't understand people being annoyed at him, he has always said he makes his mind up late, if you back any of his antepost you have no case for blaming him if you have done your money. You can always just wait for non runner no bet and back his then.

CVB stop being so biased like you are with all the Irish runners.
Another example when the Fly was in his novice season, all along he said Supreme or Ballymore (I was on massive for the Supreme and always knew that was the race), don't know which he is going for, yet after Cheltenham he said Fly was deffo going to have ran in the Supreme before his injury.
Didn't he say Gagewell's going straight for the Neptune after last time out? Now he's going for the AB.
If you bet for a living you could do without this type of thing. I do know plans can change but not like this guy does it.

CV, you make really valid points re WM. Actually backed Gagewell Flyer e/w for Neptune before NRNB but now seems it going for AB. Though I can get better odds still gone with B365 due to NRNB.
Have also backed Mourad and MDH for RSA in full knowledge that he can change his mind at last minute - the prices I got make up for the risk but done at small stakes

As said earlier I have not backed QE. I have not backed Gagewell Flyer. I did lose some money on Hurricane Fly in the Supreme 2 years ago.

Mullins said: "Paul was particularly happy with Quel Esprit. The National Hunt Chase is a big option for him now, that's most likely where he'll run."
Hendo said Fed winter for AML after her last win, then goes for Triumph. Bobs Worth going for Neptune, or now possibly AB. Nicholls says all season 1833 and Royal charm not going to Chelts, now is talking him up.
[smiley:crazy]

Hendo didn't use his brains. He thought she'd go up 5-6 lbs I still think she should go for FW despite being raised 18lb's as she'd likely to carry 11st5lb...have you backed AML in the FW as well?

I have only backed AML in the Fred Winter but I did that without any comment from Hendo I saw she was on 119 and was 14/1 for the race, it was a calculated decision that she'd get a penalty and sneak in off near bottom weight. Hendo fcuked it up, but what can ya do.
Nicholls saing 1833 and Royal Charm aren't going to Cheltenham and both line up. Please make the excuses for him. Surely if mullins is evil for changing his mind, Nicholls is similarly evil for changing his mind too.

The highly-rated Day Of A Lifetime, which has the choice of two engagements at the Festival, will take his chance in the Supreme Novices Hurdle for Willie Mullins.
The son of King's Theatre was billed as the main Mullins Champion Bumper hope last season, and is rated as a 20/1 shot for the Festival opener.
If you go back to his first ever run, he beat Jessica Harrington's Oscars Well at Fairyhouse. That horse has, of course, gone on to dual Grade One success over hurdles and is the favourite for the Neptune Hurdle on Wednesday

Well here we are a week to go.I still dont even know if Lios a Choil is going, never mind what race.It does not look good using the betting as a ghide for either. It may be he thinks it is just not good enough. As far as Day of a Lifetime goes, there is much more informed and better judges on willie, than me that are still confused. As far as Nicky goes.He has said he is considering a run in the Imperial Cup for Aegean Dawn.If it goes, then i would think the Coral, would not be on the agenda.
