SWEET WAKE.

I bought into the hype and lumped on the so called good thing.

I now have a tattoo across my forehead that reads  - 'say no to Meade'.

Denman for the Gold Cup last year! Not in one big lump, but since he'd won the Hennessey I pretty much double/trebled every bet up with him to win...had a stupid amount on by the day itself!

Rhinestone Cowboy in the bumper i was at Ascot for the horses debut it was like a knife thru butter convinced myself this was the best bet at the festival waded in too deep till this day think it should have won it in the stewards room,,,,how long did that enquiry go on for ,,,,,
Report silvercoat February 20, 2011 9:51 PM GMT
I too lumped on Rhinestone Cowboy that year. I remember waiting in the queue to be paid out as I was certain that he would get the race. I couldn't get my hat on when Pizarro kept the race.

I walked back into Cheltenham with tears in my eyes...............

As I said in your other thread my two biggest bets were on Master Minded last year and Moscow Flyer in 04 when he unseated. Both years came with a happy ending for me though thankfully!

Financially the Arkle has been good to me.

I back Dunguib for months in the run up to last years Festival. My biggest bet ever. The rest is history! I then proceeded to place the exact same amount on Kauto in the Gold Cup. Say no more!Cry
Report duffy February 21, 2011 12:03 AM GMT

most satisfaction was rooster booster as i decided it was next years winner after watching it win the county hurdle the year before...still didn't back it until october though.

biggest loss was flagship uberalles in edredon bleus champion chase.

Biggest losing bet - Harcon in the RSA
Report horse9 February 21, 2011 8:15 PM GMT
brigust - I think my sanity would be severely stretched if he was to win the CH and I didn't have a bean on, he's the current generation of horses that I have to back at all costs every time he runs now.
Last horse I had like that was Edredon Bleu, backed it in the soft at Sandown even though I knew the thing should be 100s whilst I was clutching a 13/8 voucher !

Remember Big Mac for months

HARCON HARCON

From memory it went head to head in a match and neither won.
Report seaserpent February 21, 2011 9:39 PM GMT
Howdi, that is correct, it was billed as match between Harcon & Pipes horse Banjo, they cut each others throats and Josh Giffords Brief Gale nipped in to win easily
Report shez February 21, 2011 10:29 PM GMT
biggest win was HARDY EUSTACES 1st champ hurdle win i was matched on here up to a staggering @450
to £1.16 pennys i know but also was matched on the place market @55 everyone told me including the panel at haydocks preview night that he 's in the wrong race and should've been goin for the c0ral under top weight, led all the way and confirmed it was no fluke with a typical gutsy win the following year!! ei ei HARDY ilove ya!!!

BIGGEST LOSS same as a few above RHINESTONE COWBOY in the bumper, i also backed him to get the race in the stewards room, i was so stunned when placings remain unaltered was announced=still hurts!!

Biggest winning bet Monsignor in the RSA Hurdle - then had all the winnings on Flagship Uberales in the Queen Mother (carried away in the moment)
Report cryoftruth February 22, 2011 12:01 AM GMT
Biggest bet in terms of what the money was staked and was worth at the time was on Sea Pigeon when he won the race for the second time with Francome up.

Biggest loser was when Night Nurse got beaten into second in the Gold Cup - a tragedy he never did the double that bloody mare did a few years after.

Poquelin last year. Went through the race dozens of times and couldn't see what would beat him.

Lesson learned: It can be very expensive to ignore previous festival form! (see also hardy eustace above)

Biggest winning bet on Denman in 2007, immediately after having gotten a shout about Enforce in the maiden hurdle in some track before hand. Gave it all back in my biggest losing bet on Whyso Mayo two days later.

Stormin norman rode a peach of a race to win going away...
