Time this beast had its own thread imo (apologies if he has already but couldnt see it).
That was an unbelievable performance for me. Shot from the Hip was well fancied, beaten a couple of lenghts by Zaidpour. Although many will think they both ran below par, is it possibly they didnt?
He actually reminded me a bit of Hardy Eustace - definitely a big player in the Neptune, though that looks one of the most wide open races of the festival. Still prefer So Young myself, assuming he goes for it and dosen't get switched to the Supreme after Zaidpours' bubble was burst.

Know what you mean Uncle. I thought that was one of the performances of the season so far, and I am not convinced the 2nd and 3rd under achieved that much. I think Neptune seems the obvious one.

Yes I'm with you I saw his last performance and backed him today, I think hes a horse with a big future i will be backing him all the way at Chelt. The one bright spot today.

Can't help but be really impressed with this horse, hope he proves as effective on better ground,if he does he will be a huge player if turning up at cheltenham

Wouldn't worry about the ground magic carpet. After his grade 1 win in December Harrington said this "I know the favourite came out, but he couldn't have done it better and Robbie says he hated the tacky ground."
I looked it up on the RP website last week and it put me off backing him today.

The Jockey also said today on the RP analysis that he'd be better on quicker ground. If Zaidpour had done that today and was being targeted at the race he'd be 11/4f.

the ground at navan was almost firm from frost with softish tacky places where it had thawed. 2m 2f on the short side today so you would have to be impressed. However i do agree softish seems to suit.

Nick Mordin raved about this one after he won the last day; he'd also written up favourably Shot in the Hip, Hidden Universe and to an extent Zaidpour.
So for Oscar's Well to pretty much hammer that lot with ease tells us that he's a class act indeed.

Im on Al Ferof for the Neptune but if the signs are good for Oscar in a couple of days, i.e he has come out of the race well, then i'll be a backer.
There are excuses for his debut defeat aswell.Im on Al Ferof for the Neptune but if the signs are good for Oscar in a couple of days, i.e he has come out of the race well, then i'll be a backer.
I was very impressed too and think 7/1 represents value. RP reports today that when asked if she was surprised the horse won on the bridle Mrs H replied "No, not at all." All the fancied runners were left behind so the form looks rock solid to me.

whats your feeling on those 3 now mate with regards to the festival??
not sure we will see any of them myself, but you would probably have a bit more idea.

Zaidpour will go for the Supreme, think he'll have a shout. Fast run race with the hill to climb. He deserves to go based on what he's done so far.
Mikael can't go to Chelts, he did tire at Leopardstown so he wouldn't stand a chance in the RSA. Slim chance he'll go for the Arkle, can't imagine them going for the World Hurdle with Mourad and 543 going there and Ruby on Big Bucks.
No idea with Quel Esprit, think he might still go for the RSA but it's a shot in the dark with him now. Things haven't gone right for him. He was certainly not out of it before he fell, he stays all day and would have kept finding more all the way to the line. I think he's a good jumper and I think he'll take his chance.
Not putting a cent more on any of them. What's on is on and hopefully they all go.

Robbie thinks he'll improve for better ground according to Jess, so he still looks good value to me at the current price. Might go in again when it's nrnb

There must have been some decent money for this horse over the last 24hrs.
I backed him yesterday at 6's, which was readily available, and now come in everywhere to 5 and 9/2, and 3/1 with Boyles.
I think he has to have a great chance in the Neptune, and he easily looks the most likely winner to me so far.

Had a decent go at this myself today. Annoyed I missed the 7/1 but taking the 5's before it goes.
The ground is really the only worry I have. Confident he is improving, has the best form in the book, and a trainer who can get him to the race spot on.
Still think 5's will look tremendous value on the day.

Have to say that is excellent work CVB. Had a few like that myself.... and actually think the buzz of them going off a fraction of the price is brilliant! A win just an added bonus

Well he was very impressive winning a grade 1 at fairyhouse and then Jessica said he'd be aimed at Neptune so the price was way too big. Then on a line through fully funded I thought he was better than Hidden Cyclone but didn't go in again after that race at Leop Irish Champion Hurdle meeting.
Also added First Leuitenant when Mouse said he'd go straight to the Neptune last month prior to the hidden cyclone form boost.
Shot from the hip @ 110/1 was my 3rd bet in this race.

Yeah I have a few beans on Shot from the Hip at 3 figure prices in both this and the Supreme.
They still dont know which race! But I know they were confident of a good run last week and its hard to imagine how they can reverse form with the winner, and JP doesnt have any obvious chnaces in the Supreme.

If anything like 4/1 is available when one or two firms go NRNB next weekend then I will have a serious bet.
This horse would be unbeaten but for keep getting balloted out and thus not being ready for his first race.

Yeah look at so young and the two poor races he's won and he's 7/1. He's only that shorey because he's a mullins horse. We know how they rated zaidpour so we'd have heard if they thought so young was better.
Oscars Well looks a machine.

So Young is a bit like Sprinter Sacre and Spirit Son - hasn't betaen anything of note but hasn't broken sweat to do so either. Impossible to weigh him up, but to be fair Cheltenham winners normally have some pretty strong graded form on offer so I'd see Oscars Well as a much more likely winner.
But for all that it then comes down to price and 'value'. At 7/1 each of two it's Oscars Well every day, but at 7/2 and 8/1 it starts to become less clear cut. Same scenario with Cue Card and Sprinter Sacre. Thats why we love the game so much

Watch his win at Navan and tell me why that was a 30/1 shot on here until the week of the Deloitte. Especially as Jessica said Neptune was the traget and he'll prefer better ground.

Moscow means the world to me, so will always love Jess for how she took care of him.
Hidden Cyclone boosting Oscars Well form today too, he was behind Zaidpour at Christmas and has won twice since
