Financially, Ilnamars Coral Cup (Who cares what year?) that was special, especially when I saw the Tote dividend. Ahhhh, the hairs on the back of my neck still stand up when I think of that race!

Sentimentally, Brave Inca Champion Hurdle and Witchita Lineman even though I didn't have a bean on him. The roar as he was getting up on the line is something that will stay with me until I die

On the first day of 2009 festival 2 lengths seperated me from over £100,000.

Fantastic and agonising at the same time.

sentimentally - "little" Monksfield winning his first Champion Hurdle in 1978. Golden age of hurdlers with Birds Nest ,Night Nurse ,Sea Pigeon et al ...I was only ten but remember it vividly ...still stands the hairs up on the back of my neck. For those of you too young to have seen it I have put the link below......love how he takes the last and sprints up the hill ..(actually wanted Sea Pigeon to win!)

Financially- Cool Dawn or A Mr Mulligan/Barton Bank RFC(though i would add that these two races have been the only times ive had a draw on the big race!!)

Emotionally, Got to be Dessie(backed the second as well, have never felt so good about losing)

Draining-The time i had a tasty ew bet on Royal Derbi at 100-1, thought he was going to win, threw away a com f/c slip at the last min with the 1st three written onSad
By:
Brownes Gazette would have won
When: 27 Jan 11 15:19
Financially Sublimity winning the CH; I also laid Detroit City in the same race and that was my main concern. Once I was fully confident I had DC beaten my eyes switched to Sublimity and it was absolutely hacking. I won over £16k on the race and finished the meeting down!!

Sentimentally it is a joint one between Burrough Hill Lad winning the GC, Dawn's Run winning the GC and the superb One Man winning the Queen Mother.

Sentimentally - Watching Desert Orchid's Gold Cup on TV now still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up on end

What Might Have Been - Nina Carberry getting unshipped by Karanja as the tapes went up in 2005. Was on at 110 and went off at 5/1 and I hadn't laid any off

What's Up Boys in the Coral Cup of 2000 is a shocking ommision- the phrase "came from another parish" was surely created for him! I don't think he's even in the camera shot at the second last and absolutely sprouts wings to get there by a neck. Suppose those on Native Dara wouldn't agree Laugh

Also, Inglis Drever beating Mighty Man in the Stayers on a personal note, didn't bet much at the time but had what was for me, a good bet on. RIP old boy Sad

Financially - Newmill's Champion Chase. I was working in Piccadilly Circus at the time at 1 Jermyn St infact and I nipped out for lunch to watch a little graded chase at Thurles. I wasn't expecting much. Just something to watch before I headed back to the monotony of afternoon accountancy. Well I don't think they had jumped the final fence when I was already storming out of the Lad brokes shop to race back to the office because I was certain I had just seen the Queen Mother winner...again i didnt even know it had jumped the last. Got back to the office, checked the rp site then went through every website I could find...boom got it 40/1 Newmill. Lump on time. He just travelled like a dream through the race and I was thinking that year with Moscow on the wain anything was possible.

well u lads know the rest...Newmill went out in front and the rest all conspired to throw their races away with mistake after mistake after mistake...didnt Well Chief fall in that race??? not sure cant remember or was it that unbeaten French mare??? It was one of them anyway.

Sentimentally - Brave Inca's Champion. I followed him ever since he won the Deloitte Hurdle as a Novice and never deserted him. loved him. Never did I think AP would do what he did and take on the two time Champion winner, 3 time Festival winner Hardy Eustace at the top of the hill and go toe-to-toe with him. Man that was awesome. Then to still have something left for Macs Joy after the last wow!! What made it most was AP's celebrations at the end. Absolutely magic.

I'll never forget Unsinkable Boxer as he seemingly floated over the ground as they came down the hill. When McCoy waved his whip to the crowd the whole place went bananas - happy days.

Yep CV....Kauto Star and the French mare was Kario De Sormaine in one of the oddest exits ever at the Festival lol.

the thurles race was the Kinloch Brae chase...

Voy Por was awesome the next year...digging deep to fight back vs Dempsey.

financially Florida Pearl RSA Chase, Albertas Run RSA Chase spent 6 months emptying cash on them both for this

A striking performance was Frenchman Creek with Carberry on board majestic

Sentimental Desert Orchid was special as was Best mate 3rd Gold Cup, watching Gloria Victis and Nick Dundee crash out are events that still sadden me now
