i think this horse is been overlooked, ran twice round chelt and should have a 100% record, poor ride off jockey in supreme, given to much to do and only went down 3l when clearly the best horse in the field, next time out at punch, horse ran wiv choke out for first mile which done it race, still managed to finish 6th, ( lets not 4get this horse was FAV to beat HF in this race) , i just think in a frantic pace CH it will suit the Dunguib, and when menorah priced up at 5/6, when clearly this horse has much more potential, just my opionion, but others thoughts on this would be appreciated

feel this years Champion is ultra strong race...take your points but Dunguib has lots to prove for me to come into the reckoning... it's late Jan now and he has not even run yet this year..while others have set their stall out already..still be intersesting to see him in the race.

How much better the horse might be if he gets a fast early pace over two miles is the unknown around which you might construct a case for this one as an interesting outsider. The slower early pace in the Punchestown CH last season may have contributed to the horse not settling well in that race. He might also have been over the top at that stage. The early pace in the SN last season was below that typical of a CH.
I suspect Menorah has come on quite a bit since his win in the SN. He certainly looks a stronger horse now. We don't know whether Dunguib will have progressed to the same degree, though that is one of the reasons he is available at a much bigger price than Menorah.
If his hurdling has improved, or can improve for a faster pace, and there is some cut in the ground (which is always likely now on the first day with the watering policy), he may well run better than his current odds would suggest.
Not for me, but I can certainly see where supporters of this one are coming from and good luck with the bet.

I'm not even convinced he'll take part, and if he does we have no way of knowing how forward he is in prep having not seen race this season. He is a class act and I think his price is reflective given you'd be pretty much backing blind. Hope he does run and runs a big race; im a big fan of the horse.

Philip Fenton has admitted that time is running out for Dunguib’s proposed comeback in the Red Mills Hurdle at Gowran Park on February 12.
The hugely impressive winner of the 2009 Festival Bumper, Dunguib acquitted himself creditably over flights last season, including when a close third in the Supreme Novices Hurdle, to the subsequent improver, Menorah. The latter is currently quoted second favourite in most books for the Champion Hurdle.
A poor blood test ruled Dunguib out of a comeback at Leopardstown last weekend and Fenton admitted:
“We’re beginning to panic a little bit that he won’t be ready for the Red Mills, and we won’t be able to run him before Cheltenham.”
Fenton surprised racing fans by stating that Dunguib would be given an entry for the Coral Cup, a handicap over two miles and five furlongs,at the Cheltenham Festival.
