I've scrolled down and cannot find a thread for this beast so had to start one.

What did we make of his win today ? He was heavily eased at the finish and the Fav fell early, but for me he won rather well and looked like he could have done another 1/2 mile.

He got beat on Debut, 17 lenghts, behind Wymott, but that is not an uncommon pattern for Jonjo horses.

Will they to the the RSA ? Could he be another Alberats Run ?

I took a couple of fivers after the race at 85's on here .. currently 50's ..

Thats the problem with the 2m 4f race added to the mix...near impossible to predict whos going to run where.

glenwood knight was stepping down in trip today and mccain said cud be abit steep. back over 3m he'd have more time and would jump like he did lto imo, wasnt a great race but i thought had a lovely action

IMO this horse is 100% cert to go for the handicap. McCoy looked like he was happy to let the front 2 go and have a race untill the higher rated one fell. At that point he put his horse in the race and won as he liked. It looks like they were trying to get a handicap mark today and i think they will have. McManus likes the old Jewson and i think this one will be FAV for the race on the day.

surely he will get a stiff mark after that ? He was eased quite a bit and the handicapper hates that kind of thing imo.
Report abbott January 25, 2011 9:15 AM GMT
how stiff would you say sint. He only beat a 125 rated horse getting 6lbs from him. If he gets a mark of say 139 Id say that would be perfect for him. Incidentaly the same mark as last years winner.
Report Temlett January 25, 2011 9:53 AM GMT
The trouble is that last year's winner carried 11-0.
Alfie would be 1lb off top weight at best if he was allotted 139.
Report sintonian January 25, 2011 10:00 AM GMT
actually abbot I dont think he'd get that much on reflection tbh so perhaps not as bad as I was thinking.

We'll see anyway.
Report abbott January 25, 2011 10:13 AM GMT
templett as long as he gets a racing weight I dont think that will be a problem. 139 imo would be worse case imo that would put him 20lbs ahead of knock who is a solid 125 horse

i'm a big fan

looks like he's a handicap project too me.

jumped like a stag, the biggest question is whether jonjo can get him to the festival 100%, been a notoriously hard horse to train.
