No details here - I assume either Pipe or Hobbs?
ONCE-RACED and highly regarded Cheltenian starred at Brightwells' post-racing sale at Cheltenham on Friday night when selling for £210,000. The four-year-old was backed heavily on his debut for trainer Liz Doyle in a Punchestown bumper last month and finished a good second. He headed to the sale with a big reputation and was the subject of a duel between Roger Brookhouse and Richard Kelvin Hughes, two owners who are keen supporters of Cheltenham's sales. It was Warwickshire-based Brookhouse who had the final say and he is still finalising plans for his purchase. "He'll come back to my place now and then I'll decide where he goes into training," said Brookhouse. "He was a really nice horse and I thought he'd make £150,000-plus." |

Not going to Chelt, waiting for Punchestown

Lovethehigherlaw, under Patrick Mullins, quickened well in the straight to eventually see off the challenge of promising newcomer Caolaneoin.
Afterwards Mullins Snr stated “Lovethehigherlaw did today what he had been showing me at home and I’m very happy with him as he looks a fair sort.” “I don’t want to bring him to Cheltenham and would prefer to think about the longterm picture but will talk to his owners before making a decision. I would prefer instead to run in the Grade 1 bumper Punchestown and possibly take in a winners’ bumper before then.” |

just done a bit of form, i bet beattie green on fri, sluiced up, timing was 3 secs quicker than cue card in same race last year, although carrying 7lb less and slightly diff ground, however she won more easily than cue card. Mares dont tend to go for the champ bumper but if she did must have a chance for an unfashionable but shrewd yard. Though the aintree mares is a more probable target imo. Anyone now anything?

i know that comparing times a year apart is a fast route to the poor house.

Replies: 15450 31 Jan 11 23:15 Bold Optimist injured ![]() I knew ![]() ![]() BOLD OPTIMIST, disputing favouritism at 10-1 for the Weatherbys Champion Bumper at Cheltenham, will miss the festival after a slight setback. The five-year-old's trainer Gordon Elliott said: "Unfortunately, Bold Optimist has had a slight setback and won't make the bumper at Cheltenham. He's a horse we think a lot of and we're already looking forward to him going hurdling next season." The Patrick Gleeson-owned son of Oscar has raced only once, justifying favouritism when landing a bumper by two and a half lengths at Leopardstown in December. |

some cracking bumper horses running at leop/newbury today, should be informative. shark's one at newbury interests me.
on another note, didnt think hobbs 210k horse was too impressive. doubt we'll ever see this one justify its lofty price tag. |

Winner runs today imv.
|
|
By:
Agreed
|

By:
whatever horse wins today will have different ground to contend with at cheltenham.
