Good little race tomorrow - a proper test depsite the number of runners. Tinkler an obvious negative (compared to Barry anyway) though I think the track will suit and if he gets into a nice rhythm and jumps well I doubt he'll see another horse. He could win with his ears pricked again and then he'll be 3/1 or less for the Arkle - and then it might be time to lay offHappy

I've backed Realth Dubh and Merdermit at double figure prices as savers so even a bad run won't be the end of the world.

Great news for FR supporters that the field is small. This should keep the herd packed and put the emphasis on jumping. Good jockey Tinkler lets hope the horse doesnt remember Geraghty's feel and responds to Tinklers timing well. Sit tight and let the horse do it Geraghty hasnt had to get busy and am sure will have spoken to Tinkler re his idiosyncracys.

tbh I would not even be dissapointed if he lost tmoz. He's got what it takes to win an Arkle in his locker and I'm pretty sure of that. It's not great he's going to be running in his hardest race with a different jockey on board at warwick but I think he will win well and if he doesn't I will be taking the bigger prices that follow. Biggest danger IMO will be Tail Of The Bank he will love that track and that ground. It's not an ideal prep but it will help the horse hugely with experience.

I hate to be smug but have a lump at 33's and really want him to win tommorow but even then feel i cannot lay off this horse. He could be so so special and just could not be at Cheltenham and see him cross that line.....rather back Ghizao as insurance. The race tommorow does look quite interesting and for me Stagecoach Pearl looks a decent price on his form to date

Can't believe you guys would not lay off at the current price - let alone wanting 3-1. If you have 33s, surely it's worth losing a small portion of your stake and still securing a 28X profit? I'm on at much shorter prices but would lay off at 3-1!
By:

When: 12 Feb 11 00:33
If he wins tomorrow his price probably won´t shorten at all - but if he falls and is on the easy list, or worse...remember Peveril (also at Warwick). Lay off.
By:

When: 12 Feb 11 01:01
you exactly right, Tiptheodds. I layed mine off before his last run whereby the upsides of beating a small field were minimal but a fall would be catastrophic. He would have to win by about 20 lengths tomorrow for his price to shorten more than it already is, where is if he were to have an accident it could be game over.

Obviously that is worst case scenario but anything can happen in these races so i've no qualms laying off my 33/1, none at all, and did so before his last run. the price now is nuts!! imo

Maybe it's worth laying him today at 1.4 instead - if he gets beat today obviously he ain't going to be winning an Arkle. I just hope they continue to take the initiative and go from the front and use his enthusiasm and bold jumping to stretch them - sort of like Make A Stand when he won the Champion Hurdle.

I had a dream last night that he won the Arkle by a distance  - it was just like Masterminded when he won his first Queen MotherLaugh.

Every horse is allowed an off day imo. Wonder if Mikael D'Haguenet will be back to form today after long odds on defeat in a v good field last time over too short a trip for him.  Over the longer trip and maybe RSA bound by the end of the day.

keep the bets boys, whats up with you yellow bellysLaugh??

this horse is special imo, dont worry about medermit,FR will out jump him over 2m,confident about that.

why give someone else some/all of your winnings??

have faith!!!

i always cover my bets now,its not the money angle, its the gut wrenching feeling of beating myself it it goes t itsup..been there too many times in years prev.only speaking for myself tho,it doesnt suit everyone
By:

When: 12 Feb 11 09:43
what i try to do is get a horse at bigger odds early,so i can then back one, maybe 2 nearer or on the day depending on the race and prices, but keep my original bet. When it works it gives me a good position on the day, when!!

Not a good round of jumping, i think i would take that on at a short price in the arkle.
By:

Mmmm. He'll have to jump a lot better than that.

When: 12 Feb 11 14:45
Tinkler, what the f**k was that!?

No coincidence that his jumping improved when he got out in front; why not let him go as they did both times at Newbury!?
By:
duffy
When: 12 Feb 11 14:47
his jumping suffered today because for the first time i can remember he was lit up during the race.
By:
unclepuncle
When: 12 Feb 11 14:49
The problem was Henderson instructed Tinkler to hold him up (said that was the plan in an interview with Alice Plunket). As I said earlier this is a natural bold jumping front running chaser - like Edredon Bleu. If they hold him up in the Arkle I'm laying off my whole betCry.

I don't normally like McCoy on my horses but he'd be ideal on this one.

Needs to be allowed to make the running was impressed there, he wasnt ridden great there, definitely shouldnt be held up he likes jumping at his own pace.

not the best of rides, but horse did not settle and made it difficult.
not great at his fences, but that could be cos of his noy settling.Seemed to jump better in front, maybe thats the way to fide him as others are saying on here.
needs a bigger field, which he will get in March, and hopefully then he will run his race.
By:
eric_morris
When: 12 Feb 11 15:11
Yes but that's the point, he doesnt have to be asked to settle (which didnt work there) if he is allowed out front making his own pace and jumping at the pace he sets for himself which we know is fast. He could get Medermit in trouble for starters as he jumps better slower at longer trips imo. If he is held up like that mistakes could cost FR it. Needs an Azertyuiop type ride.

Still think Captain Chris would have a tremendous chance in the Arkle with a very positive ride.
