Not impossible Albertas Run could pick it up if this was a transitional year.

Won RSA
2nd King George
Won Rynair

Big odds. Admittidly wouldn't win a normal year but this may not be.

what was the reaction to weirds al DH the other day ?
Report Crewebish November 4, 2010 12:29 AM GMT
IMO weird Al was a great run, out and out soft going, unideal trip against a horse who set a fierce pace from the front, not just a summer break but an injury break to overcome, going right handed for first time since his bumper, finished the race distressed and still stayed on.

Have already backed Albertas Run for this at 75 plus. Backed him at 33s for the Ryanair in January as he loves Cheltenham in March and surely the owner will want to have a go especially if some of the fancied horses have bombed out by then.

Be surprised myself if they go for GC.Already tried it once and well beaten.Ryannair is the ideal distance for him at Chelt imo.
Never know with owners though and they may want another crack at it.
Have backed him for Ryannair again so hope you wrong, but good luck if you are right my friend.

Agree about this being a funny year - are 'the old brigade' good enough? If not then the starting point for the 'next generation' is usually last season's RSA Chase - but how good was the form of that race? Is there any 'Wierd Al' types who missed out last season and if so are you of the 'they never come back' mindset?

Okay, to some extent it's the same questions at this time of every new season, but this year there seem to be more imponderables.

If they get Weapons Amnesty straight, then he screams winner to me.

Me too

I'm willing to be proven wrong but I think Weapons Amnesty was flattered in the RSA. The big names failed to perform for a number of reasons and Citizen Vic would have at very least pushed him close if the unfortunate hadn't happend. There's improvement to come but I'm not sure he's going to be quite Gold Cup class.

I too think something might come from nowhere to win this. Something like Silver By Nature who did nothing but improve last winter.
