see frontier dancer has double entries think his the banker of the weekend if he runs.

looked a good chaser on debut.
Report Bobby Dazzler October 11, 2010 11:43 PM BST
I will be there - Frontier Dancer will go for the 2 1/2 mile novice along with Wishful Thinking from the Hobbs yard. Maybe a decent contest.

Bobby, what are long term plans for Frontier Dancer please?
Report Swinia October 12, 2010 12:43 PM BST
Bobby i'm sure you read Hobbs stable tour in the post yesterday. He's very bullish about Wishful thinking which is generally not in Hobbs nature
Report Albion Dan October 12, 2010 12:45 PM BST
Sorry for being a sycophant, but Swinia, how is Trafford Lad doing as I am looking forward to seeing him out.  Fancied him for the Hennessey before his setback.
Report Swinia October 12, 2010 1:20 PM BST
All systems go for Down Royal for the Nicholson wine chase. Thats really a starting point and should line him up for the Durkan in Dec. Personally i wouldn't recommend him as a betting proposition for Down Royal as its a fact finding mission i suspect. A horse off for so long can come back keen and too fresh. He's in very good order however and fingers crossed for Larry Butler that he'll take the step up into grade 1 company Devil
Report Albion Dan October 12, 2010 2:28 PM BST
That's great thanks. Am i mental in throwing a couple of quid at him for the gold cup at triple figures?
Report Swinia October 12, 2010 3:13 PM BST
For whats available ...not at all... not sure of your betting profile but in terms of risk v reward it has to rank as great value...i'm fully topped up at 200+... its money i regard as lost at this stage but it may come good....
Report Albion Dan October 12, 2010 3:23 PM BST
Cheers, I'm just trying to get a couple of quid on at about that. Like you say you never know.
Report R Carver October 12, 2010 6:03 PM BST

I'll be there Friday and Saturday and can't wait. If you're into iPhone apps check out Foursquare. It's a city guide/social network/loyalty card/game - got it? :-) If you 'check-in' on Friday or Saturday at Cheltenham Racecourse you'll automatically be entered into a draw for 2x 2 pairs of Club Badges for Paddy Power Gold Cup. It's something I've helped the racecourse set up. If it's well supported they're should be more offers around Foursquare throughout the season. Anyone on here already use?
Report Bobby Dazzler October 13, 2010 12:56 PM BST
Hi Albion Dan - plan was always to go for the Perth race, then to the 2m 4f novice at Cheltenham which we won with Imperial. After that we will have our benchmark as to how to set his sights. He is a great jumper of a fence, how big his engine is I don't know - my own personal view is that if he measures up the Arkle would be the race. Not saying he is good enough to win it, but as long as he can run a decent race the members of the club would be thrilled to have a runner.
Report Albion Dan October 13, 2010 2:25 PM BST
Thanks Bobby, maybe the new 2m4 chase could end up being the target? I dont know what your thoughts on the addition of that race are? gl for the weekend though, I was looking forward to following FD.
Report bagpipe1 October 13, 2010 6:49 PM BST
I will be there on saturday.
Really looking forward to it and cant wait.
Early entries look very good and look forward to the 2 novice chases over 2m and 3m.
Report IC superstar October 13, 2010 7:42 PM BST
can't wait for friday, the jump boys are back!! Cracking 3 miler on friday with some top entries. Have always liked midnight chase, so long as the ground stays good I reckon he'll be in the frame at his favourite hunting ground!

I'd also expect a big run from twiston's runner ASTRACAD in the first. He stayed on well after running a great race at Market Rasen, and I'd anticipate the step back up in trip to bring out the best in him
Report Bobby Dazzler October 13, 2010 9:17 PM BST
Hi Albion Dan - if they put any serious money into the 2m 4f race then it will be the death of the RSA. The trainers already think the race is to brutal for novices and most will be happy to divert to a lesser test.

I have always largely discounted the RSA as a serious Gold Cup trial, but I am in the minority and it plays a significant part in the ante-post market for the GC. I can only think of three previous RSA winners who have won the GC, four if you count Tied Cottage who was disqualified. Arkle was obviously exceptional, Looks Like Trouble won a very poor renewal by a distance, and Denman beat Snowy Morning who turned out to be a solid 150 horse.
Report Albion Dan October 14, 2010 9:47 AM BST
I Agree, I dont think the Arkle will lose out much due to its prestige, however I think any horse with a touch of class will drop down to the 2m4 race and the RSA will just be left to real sloggers.
