Any ideas on this guys plans for the year. I know we have a couple of Nick Williams fans on here. I think with a bit of cut in the ground he will be going to the top.

you hardly mean me do you!! IF i was him id run him here until the ground gets better than soft and then send him off to france for the rest of his races for the season. must be a frustrating horse to haveHappy
Report Masterminded September 29, 2010 8:58 PM BST
ye. not sure why he decided against the triumph but then ran him at aintree???
Report revedesivola September 29, 2010 9:04 PM BST
id say he wishes he never ran me voici at aintree. it would have been to early to turn him out after his haydock run i think. An easy enough race around cheltenham in france would have been good for him and then tuck him away but its easy for me to say that. he was prob worried about it being taxing on a young horse and so decided against. What novice graded chases would suit him best in gb between this and about january that he could go for. Id say hell make a v good chaser... he could take femces like most horses take hurdles!
Report Masterminded September 29, 2010 9:06 PM BST
do you not think he could go arkle?
Report revedesivola September 29, 2010 9:13 PM BST
well i dont know. would he handle the ground. nick says heavy ground is perfect and that even soft ground is not ideal although he would have no problem running him on it. Im told that top class horses will handle any ground but i dont know reli. my god he is huge though isnt he?
Report Princesse D'Anjou September 29, 2010 9:19 PM BST
Runs two over there tomorrow RDS at Auteuil so not as absurd as it would sound initially.
Report revedesivola September 29, 2010 9:36 PM BST
nick williams is ...?
Report kwality September 29, 2010 9:43 PM BST
wouldnt James de Vssy be a better Arkle prospect for Nick Williams?
Report revedesivola September 29, 2010 9:51 PM BST
would defo handle ground better anyway. I think hes not madly high in the betting is he?
Report Princesse D'Anjou September 29, 2010 10:19 PM BST
Yeah Nick Williams does - one in the Prix Pride of Kildare and then one in a 4yo Hurdle later on the card.  Both ridden by Daryl Jacob.
Report revedesivola September 29, 2010 10:23 PM BST
and how would a lad like myself get cards for that please
Report Princesse D'Anjou September 29, 2010 10:33 PM BST
Just seen your post over on Horse Racing.

France-Galop.com for the cards and the form of the others - the Pride of Kildare is a very hot race (usually) for unraced 3yo Hurdlers (won by Master Minded, Azertyuiop and Exotic Dancer in the past), it was won by Sang Bleu last year.

The other race is a regular 4yo Hurdle - I've not looked over the others in the field but the Williams horse won a Maiden P2P in a decent enough time in April so clearly has ability.

im finding difficulty in getting them off france galop, can you help further? thanks
Report Princesse D'Anjou September 29, 2010 10:48 PM BST
http://www2.france-galop.com/FGWeb/domaines/courses/courses_calendrier.aspx that should work - races 3 and 7 the Williams horses are in.

If that site takes you to the main calendar then Auteuil on 30th September is the one
Report revedesivola September 29, 2010 10:53 PM BST
thanks, much appreciated. are you french yourself?
Report Princesse D'Anjou September 29, 2010 10:53 PM BST

That has the cards too.
Report revedesivola September 30, 2010 12:13 PM BST
what time will both races be at taking into account time difference?
Report Princesse D'Anjou September 30, 2010 12:37 PM BST
13:40 and 15:45 UK time [:D]
Report revedesivola September 30, 2010 12:44 PM BST
ok thank you. what would you consider their chances. did the second horse win a point to poin t on hi only start?
Report Princesse D'Anjou September 30, 2010 12:50 PM BST
Yeah he won at Kingston St Mary in April in a decent time.  Imagine they'll both come on for the run and the race that Horatio Caine is in is normally a very hot race.

They've chances if jumping round - would prefer to see a French jockey on them given how the race is likely to be run or see Jacob go off in front on them both.  Both races are over 2m 2f.
Report revedesivola September 30, 2010 12:58 PM BST
why would jacob go off in front?
Report Princesse D'Anjou September 30, 2010 1:00 PM BST
Because I doubt that the Williams horses will have the turn of foot that the French trained horses will have in a sprint finish, added to the fact the second horse has won over 3m already and has guaranteed stamina.
Report revedesivola September 30, 2010 1:07 PM BST
but what could a french jockey do for the situation?
Report Princesse D'Anjou September 30, 2010 1:30 PM BST
He'd know where to sit in the race, when to make his move etc. rather than just sit there and wait to find out the horse has no turn of foot or that the leaders have got away from him.  If the horses race handy they'll have as good a chance as any IMO (given the success that NW has had with French-breds in the past back in the UK).

I find it hard to believe that the way Williams trains his horses that they are likely to be seen to best effect in what often develops into a 1m 7f hack and a 3f sprint - could be wrong as both are French-bred.

Have tried to find more about about the Pointing winner but not been able to and the bible isn't released until November so nothing on that front either.

61/1 Horatio Caine on the PMU at the min RDS.
Report revedesivola September 30, 2010 1:37 PM BST
where can i watch the races?
Report Princesse D'Anjou September 30, 2010 1:47 PM BST
Not sure about live but www.equidiavideo.fr offers the videos on a pay-per-view basis cheaply after the race.
Report Princesse D'Anjou September 30, 2010 1:48 PM BST
Not in the first three in the first one RDS.  Will let you know when I find out where exactly HC came.
Report Princesse D'Anjou September 30, 2010 1:51 PM BST
He finished the race (unlike 4 of the others) but wasn't in the top 6.

No problem - will let you know how the other goes too.

Report Princesse D'Anjou September 30, 2010 2:16 PM BST
Not sure at the min but looks like the winner came 5-6 lengths clear at least (only got a photo of the finish).
Report Princesse D'Anjou September 30, 2010 3:59 PM BST
Shalimar Fromentro was second RDS - was 30/1 on the PMU.

Hope it's not true Sad

It is very sad.

I remember reading the quote where NW said this horse made him look forward to getting up in the morning and training. Plus when they sold a similar type to PN they knew they had one twice as good at home.

Sad
