anyone know which race/races hes being aimed at ? saw something on atr today, along the lines of even tho we have menorah, capt chris is the one im looking forward too the most !!!
From what's in front of me, Captain Chris is being aimed at a listed novice hurdle at Kempton on the 17th of October. He will then go novice chasing where Hobbs hopes he will be a Arkle horse. At the time of writing this, Hobbs goes on to say they haven't schooled him over fences, but he doesn't envisage any problems.
He made a noise on his last few runs, so he may wear a tongue tie this season but they have decided against operating on his wind.
I believe Menorah should also be racing at Kempton on the same day in a conditions hurdle. After this he is likely to run in the Greatwood handicap at the Paddy Power meeting at Cheltenham, just like other great Hobbs horses; Rooster Booster, and Detroit City. Hobbs believes Menorah is potential better than Snap Tie, and expects him to go very close to winning off his current handicap mark, and hopefully make in to a live champion hurdle candidate. A strongly run 2 mile race is a necessity.
