think this horse is fed up with the game,maybe a change of yard may re kindle his love for the game,shame, as he was top notch on his day,his arkle win was sublime!

I would suspect all HJ horses would love a change of scenery - unlikely to happen though.

Doesn't Mr Wylie live very close to the stables?
I think I've read somewhere that he likes to go there every morning to watch the horses gallop. Personally, if I had his money, I'd do pretty much the same and have all my horses trained on the downs at Lewes near where I live. |

He does Wayward - and I suspect you have correctly identified his motives, but he is now in for over 10 million and his best two horses he bought on his own information - Tidal Bay from Alistair Charlton who is local and Inglis Drever on recommendation from his friend Mark Prescott. Just makes no sense.

The combination of horseracing and owning a horse makes no sense (unless you have money to burn) but he's earned his fortune so I would not begrudge him the pleasure of spending it as he wishes.
Must admit, I did not think that he'd spent £10 million on his hobby. I thought he only received £40 million from the sale of his software company? If that is true, then its not stables that he needs to change - its his advisors. |

Wayward - i would agree. JHJ had a terrible yr, but all trainers have lean yrs. JHJ has provided him with many great moments, loads of great moments, but i think its a mistake to concentrate all his horses in 1 yard (what happens if the yard are sick - his whole string is hammered). David johnson now spreads his horses. I also think he should employ a proven, professional bloodstock agent. His buying policy has generally been pretty disasterous - who is slecting them? JHJ? If JHJ is his friend (which is obvious) and if he wants to watch his horses daily, fine, send many to JHJ but for heavens sake spread them about as well - and change the person who is selecting them at the sales.
All of that said, GW seems like a genuine nice guy, has ploughed millions into it, probably kept many people in jobs, and i dont begrudge him 1 second of any of his track success. But things clearly need to change if he is to retain his enjoyment of the sport. |

It will be intersting what trip Nicholls tries him over this year, and if he will try him over fences or hurdles.
I think the Fixed Brush hurdles at Haydock would be right up his street, but he's on too high a mark for those. Change of scenery might do him the world of good, and I'm sure there is a big win in him still; even though he's getting on. The Arkle he won was pretty poor, but not many do the Cheltenham / Aintree double, especially with a combined victory of 19 lengths |

JHJ definitely not doing as well as he should given the ammo he has but don't know if it's just coincidence but he does really well for me almost +106% to stake over 8 years. Twiston is the exact opposite for me but seem people seem to catch him - I can never work him out.
