Does anyone know why finians rainbow is generally the same price for next years cheltenham contests as reve de sivola when rds has come out on top twice on different ground?

Well its due to a lack of layers. I mean I wouldn't want to take either of these on they are both great horses. Don't forget horses can improve over fences.
Report revedesivola September 24, 2010 6:42 PM BST
ye suppose youre right. I think reve de sivola could easily find 1.5 lenghts on peddlers cross in a chase over 2.5 o 3 miles
Report 3132 September 24, 2010 7:17 PM BST
Peddlers bear Reve fair and square...Reve also hit a fair few hurdles which he wont get away with over the bigger obstacles.

Reve will certainly need to jump better.
Report revedesivola September 24, 2010 7:23 PM BST
yeah cant help but think he will be betr over fences bcos he wont be long about learning that he wont finish races never mind win if he runs down fences
Report 3132 September 24, 2010 7:32 PM BST
I hope they have schooled him well...thats why I think he'd be better with a couple of small 3k nov chases for more experience if chasing is long term game rather than running at Haydock. Just think it would benefit him more.

agreed 3132. He's a smashing horse, but i dont think he'll make it to the very top. I accept i might be in a minority of 1 with that view though.

maybe low value to start off with is the correct option but i think he will be better over fences, after all nick williams bought him for this purpose and said anything he did over small obstacles was a bonus...2 grade 1s aint bad!!!

I thought Finnians got unbalanced at Cheltenham. Wouldnt be surprised if he went to Aintree

All depends at what trip they meet.

Finians went throught the Newbury race (Challow Hurdle) like much the best horse only to hit the last hurdle and get collared close home in a heavy ground slog. At Cheltenham he probably got outstayed again and I expect them to aim him at the Arkle where as Reve will surely be going RSA.

any reason you couldnt have stuck this on your other thread about the same horse?
Report revedesivola September 26, 2010 4:52 PM BST
good point, sorry
Report abbott September 26, 2010 7:45 PM BST
No probs mate. I actually came across as a bit of a knob there. Just ment its good to have one thread about a horse with all the good points on it instead of having a few and some get lost.
Report 3132 September 27, 2010 7:51 AM BST
Hendersons comments from his open day indicate he has high hopes for Finians Rainbow over fences...says he was only playing at it over hurdles. 2 1/2m he mentions is Rainbow's ideal trip.

Maybe the new 2m 4f Novice if added would be target.
Report unclepuncle September 27, 2010 11:38 AM BST
Well Finians definitley isn't an RSA horse so under normal circumstances I'd be backing him quite heavily for the Arkle but this extra 2m4f  race is just making it impossible.
