Dunguib on his retrieval mission and agree with Fidway, Forpady other than second, hopefully at Down Royal in November as long as ground isn't bottomless, as it was last year.

Somersby for me. Backed him in the Arkle and he ran a cracker. Massive scope for improvement given the size of the horse just don't know what race they will aim him at but i'll be backing him whatever he goes for.

Think Flat Out could be Willie Mullins horse for the Sun Alliance Chase and I'm keen to see where he goes this season
Think the young generation will have a say in the Gold Cup this season. Looking forward to seeing how Long Run does with a full off season's rest behind him.
But TBH I'm like a dog with two dix about the whole thing already and it's still over 6 months off[:)][:)]

Like Roger tho really looking forward to see how Long Run gets on after a proper break and a bit more growing time, thought he did really well last year after a busy season, thought his RSA run was really encouraging and promising for such a young and inexperienced, (to english fences), horse

Think we all know he is an aeroplane it is just that Ruby will always be aboard Nicholls chartered flight to the Gold Cup so Mikael may never get a chance to run in it. Next year Big Bucks has been declared on target for the race does Mikael miss out on Ruby again ... I think so? This horse should have been given a jump around late last season with a view to going for the Gold Cup this imo.

yeah ruby will more than likely on a nicholls horse, wouldnt put me off if townend did ride it great young jock,he has a brother to zaynar mullins who could go champion bumper and nicky henderson supposedly has a full brother to binocular and showing plenty apparently

Watching Cue Card's progress will be interesting although Bumper winners have a recent history of flattering abit. If he was trained by Paul Nicholls this beast would be 5-1 now for the Supreme.

In short I think Cue Card is quicker and likely to be more athletic over his hurdles than Dunguib. If he continues to be underestimated, as he was in the Cheltenham bumper, then there is more chance of getting good value. If you read back through the thread you'll see folk saying I'm looking forward to seeing Cue Card but...Dunguib last year, record of supreme winners etc.

I swear I heard Hen say on ATR she didn't think Somersby stayed at Aintree though. It's open to debate about whether he stays, not sure how anyone can be certain based on the Aintree run considering he was kicked before the start and it was at the end of the season.
Anyway, she didn't give the impression she would be sending him to the Ryanair. Maybe ftm heard it from a different source though, or maybe I heard wrong.

It seems that that is what she has said Ryan. I agree though that everything that could go wrong, did go wrong at Aintree and to judge him on that run would be ludicrous. My pocket is talking as I backed him for the GC immediately following the Arkle as he looked to be crying out for further then.

Yeah agreed DO, everything did seem to go wrong at Aintree [smiley:crazy]. I'm sure you're not the only person who thinks he will stay further, he definitely gave me that impression too.
I don't think he's got enough pace to win the Champion Chase, so if they don't go further with the horse this season then I think he might struggle as a 2nd season chaser.

Got to add Punchestowns in their as well. The horse oozes class but poor prep didn't help his chances in the RSA. Think he got an injury as well on the day?

Captain Chris for me, looked like he had the makings of a proper horse. Long Run also, was well over the top by Cheltenham and not given the best of rides, i'm really looking forward to seeing him after a proper rest. The jockey still worries me though.

What a Friend has improved for not going to Cheltenham last season and has a great chance in the gold cup if taken another step this year with age and class on his side. Also Great Value Each Way

Rangitoto, an ex-irish point to point horse, who is owned by paul barber and charles whittaker. Won 1 from 1 when with liam burke. In training now with paul nicholls. I think this is the best ex-irish pointer pfn has had since denman came across the water...we shall see.

There is no value to backing Somersby early for a Ryanair. Hen is always lured by the Gold Cup imo and you are touch and go whether he ends up in that.
