Huge difference between Luxor and Wynn. Luxor at the south end of the strip near the airport, good value but I'd prefer a better location further up the strip.
Wynn is expensive but a great luxury hotel, fantastic place. Stayed at Treasure Island last year, not as plush as the Wynn, but for a basic good value hotel with a great location near the middle of the strip, TI was fine.
Good website to look at for recent reviews of Vegas hotels is Trip Advisor.

Going back again in November, and plan on doing a trip to the Grand Canyon this time. Haven't booked anything yet, but we will either stay at Treasure Island again or Mirage (right next to TI), if it's your first vist you also want to go and see a couple of shows, hope you enjoy your trip, fantastic place, first time I went it was my choice, missus wasn't too keen - she would have preferred a hot beach somewhere, but now she wants to go back to Vegas.
Reading the threads on here several people have been lots of times, you either don't like it and that's it, or it really grabs you and you want to keep going back.

Stayed in The Signature at MGM grand Twice now, its a seperate hotel connected to the MGM, but its non gaming... ie just a hotel, its quiet, got its own pool area that is very quiet, and best of all, suites for rooms, last time we went ours had 3 rooms and 2 bathrooms plus a private balcony, all for the same price of a room at any other hotel. Its got a moving walkway that connects it to the MGM itself so you never more than 5 mins from the main casino there, and to be honest its nice to escape the huge casino floor at times. Plus the pool area is brilliant, never more than 10 0r 20 people around the pool, very relaxing in the mid day heat, unlike the MGm itself where thousands go and its a fight to get a sun lounger!!!

Stayed at the Wynn and Ceasers, and had a look at most. The Wynn is tremendous, rooms are fantastic. If you stay there ask for a corner room, they offer great views. The only issue with the place is that it is at the top end of the strip so a bit of a walk. No real problem. Love the place!

^ haven't been to the Aria, but this is a new one isn't it, opened end of last year I think. Will def go there next time to see it and that Cirque Du Soleil Elvis show they have.
Hotel looks an incredible place, Google it and have a look at the website. If you can stay there at that price I def would.

OMG this hotel looks amazing, just had a look at those clips on YouTube.
Hotel seems to have a younger hip vibe, rooms look fantastic and over-the-top, all remote controlled, at night just press a button by the bed, curtains close, TV goes off, lights dim......it all looks great, and the whole complex where the hotel is has the lot.
Sudden fever to go to Las Vegas again !

If your still around shiraz - the Aria hotel got a very good write-up in the Daily Mirror travel column today, 'a modern and stylish place to stay in the Strip's new city-centre complex, no tackiness or cheesy theme about the hotel. And one example of what Vegas is doing to draw back some of the tourists it lost to the recession.'

Got back yesterday, as usuall Las Vegas never falls short of my expectations, a few winning days along with a few losing ones...ended up bringing money back home so I couldnt have done that bad :)
below figures are approxamate
Roulette - up $450 thanks to an incredible 4 5's on the bounce.
Blackjack - not one of my gamess but won around $100.
Slots - probably level, maybe a little down, had a few nice wins playing 1 cent slots...drew $180 from a Pirate based slot "Bucaneer" I think it was called, and $150 from one of the many Monopoly based slots.
Video Poker - down around $200 despit hitting 4 of a kind playing Double Bonus Poker on several occasions.
Sportsbook - up around $600 - had 5 from 5 on the horses :) that figure would have been doubled had the Vikings not lost to the Dolphins :( they did me for a 5 fold teaser.
Temp was in the 100's most days yet Vegas is the only place i can come back whiter than when I went :)
A great holiday despite being diverted from Manchester to Liverpool on the flight home due to thunderstorms...sat on the tarmac for the best part of 4hrs....not good at anytime, even more so after already flying for 10 hrs.
Here's to the next trip to Vegas

Forgot to add I'll never stay at the Flamingo again, terrible rooms and the bloke on the desk was a complete ****..had to wait 3hrs for the rooms we had paid and extra £100 for, having previously been put in a smelly run down shithole of a room that I wouldnt put my dog in.

Thanks for the update Video_Lounge, did'nt realise you were away almost two weeks, that went pretty quickly and I was'nt the one in Vegas. Interesting about the Flamingo, so many good reports about the "Go" rooms. Good to hear that Vegas still gave you what you wanted.

Wow, what a place. Ended up staying at the Mirage which I thought was fantastic. Great location, fantastic rooms and decent value. Looking at other places to stay I reckon Aria, Venetian and Wynn look really nice. Cant believe how brilliant Vegas was as a destination though. Amazing weather, fantastic hotels/pools, loads to do, free drink, gambling, shows, grand canyon, friendly people etc etc. We stayed for 8 days and I would love to go back.

Personally I wouldn't stay on the strip The Silverton is at the South end but it's good if you hire a car You really should hire a car , people say don't it's not necessary but it is trust me hire a car Big hotels on strip are busy noisy and the pools are crowded Go to the Silverton enjoy a nice hotel and visit the strip
