The ruling from the US judge Daniel Weinstein says Fury must fight Wilder for a third time by September 15.

Fury's team must now settle with Wilder - which could be a huge step aside deal involving potentially millions of dollars for the American - with the legal teams representing Wilder capable of issuing proceedings and setting injunctions involving the television companies involved and the sanctioning bodies which control the four belts.

Arbitration on the case started in late 2020, after Wilder had exercised his right for a third fight just over a week after being defeated by seventh-round stoppage by the 'Gypsy King'.

Initially, a date of July 18 was set for the trilogy, but that date was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic followed by Wilder having to undergo surgery.

We await.....

Promoter Eddie Hearn says he is now considering a "plan B" for Anthony Joshua and that Tyson Fury's team must clarify by the end of the week whether the pair can still fight this summer.

Fury and Joshua had agreed to a super fight in Saudi Arabia on 14 August.

But on Monday it was ruled Fury must face American Deontay Wilder for a third time by 15 September.

Hearn - Joshua's promoter - said the "game changed" with the ruling, adding: "We have to have a plan B in place".

He added: "The one that springs to mind is the WBO mandatory - Oleksandr Usyk."

Less than a week ago Hearn told BBC boxing correspondent Mike Costello he did not have any back-up plan in place because he was confident Joshua-Fury would be finalised.

And on Sunday, Fury announced he had agreed to the bout.

But Wilder's team had long said they had contractual rights to a third fight with Fury, and on Monday a US judge ruled in arbitration that the pair must fight again by 15 September.

The deadline means Fury's team are likely to consider paying Wilder to step aside but there are no guarantees the former world heavyweight champion will accept a deal to do so.

"This negotiation has been going on for three or four months and we were always assured this wouldn't be a problem," Heard added.

"It was very strange decision from the arbitrator to say the least, but that's their business.

"We can't control that or be involved with that process. As far as I understand it, Fury wants to fight Joshua. Hopefully they can resolve the issue and we move forward but over to them.

"We have provided an unbelievable opportunity to Fury. We want to be in a position by the end of the week to know are we fighting Fury or moving forward with another option.

"It's exciting, it's disappointing and it's boxing. Let's see if Team Fury can pull something out of the bag for their fighter. I think he will be disappointed."

Ukraine's Usyk - who has 18 wins from 18 bouts - holds the mandatory challenger position for Joshua's WBO title.

Joshua was set to risk his WBO, WBA and IBF belts against WBC champion Fury in boxing's first heavyweight contest for all four recognised world titles.

Tyson Fury does not expect to face Anthony Joshua in his next fight after Deontay Wilder requested $20m to step aside and allow their bout to go ahead.

Fury, 32, agreed to face Joshua, 31, in a highly-anticipated fight in August.

But Wilder's team forced an arbitration hearing which concluded he had a contractual right to face Fury for a third time and by 15 September.

Fury said Wilder "asked for $20m (£14m) to move over", and added: "Looks like I will have to crack his skull again."

Fury posted his message on Instagram over a video of Wilder working out with trainer Malik Scott.

Scott has also posted, stating Wilder "declined and had no interest in step-aside money".

"He wants blood and not step-aside money," Scott posted. "Retribution is upon us."

Fury stopped Wilder in seven rounds in February 2020 to become WBC world heavyweight champion, 14 months on from when the pair shared a thrilling draw in a first meeting.

A third fight was slated for 2020 but delays caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and an injury to Wilder prompted Fury to focus on facing Joshua.

The teams behind the two British heavyweights have engaged in lengthy negotiations. Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn was adamant their fight was agreed and on Sunday Fury told his Instagram followers he too has signed off on a 14 August bout in Saudi Arabia.

Just 24 hours later, Wilder's team - who had always said he had a contract in place for a third Fury fight - found out their arbitration hearing was successful.

Hearn has since stated the situation is now out of his control and has set Fury's team a deadline of the end of the week to resolve their situation with Wilder.

For the first time, Hearn has admitted he is considering alternative plans, notably a contest between Joshua and Ukraine's Oleksandr Usyk, who is mandatory challenger for the WBO title.

Joshua holds the WBO, WBA and IBF belts, meaning a bout with Fury would have been the first at heavyweight for all four world titles.

The nature of the game should be that fighters fight (Ali used to have 4/5 bouts a year) so get the spoon fed yank out of the way asap, get Joshua to fight around the same time and then the way is completely clear to get the Fury-Joshua fight on.

No discussion about helping on a deal with Wilder just straight to talking about Usyk. And then it will be Dilian next spring......

Top Rank CEO Bob Arum declared on Thursday that Fury and Wilder will face off on July 24 in Las Vegas, with the hope that Fury, the current WBC heavyweight champion, will finally face Anthony Joshua in a unification bout in November and December.

Anthony Joshua has been ordered to defend his WBO heavyweight title against mandatory challenger Oleksandr Usyk after the apparent collapse of his bout with fellow Briton Tyson Fury.

As a result, the two fighters and their teams have until 31 May to reach an agreement for a fight or purse bids will be called.

WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has signed his contract to face Deontay Wilder on 24 July.

Fury, 32, looked set to finalise a fight for all four world titles against Anthony Joshua in Saudi Arabia.

But the all-British affair fell through when Wilder's team won an arbitration hearing stating the American had a right to a third fight with Fury.

Fury attended Josh Taylor's win over Jose Ramirez in Las Vegas on Saturday, where he signed his fight contract.

"He's getting seriously smashed to bits," Fury said. "I'll give him another shoulder injury, another bicep injury, another leg injury.

"One round, you're going. I have got your soul, your mojo, everything. I own you."

Fury signed less than seven days since he appeared on social media stating he had agreed to face Joshua in August.

But Wilder, 35, refused to take any money in order to step aside and let Fury pursue the Joshua fight.

Not that it is Eddie Hearn's fault, but I just think his reaction (basically relief) shows he never wanted the fight. There was no sense of what a shame it was, or if anything could be done to keep it on track (which a lot of people speculated was possible on the day), just ''OK, so now it's AJ v Usyk''

He never wanted the Wilder fight in 2019 either. That time he just seemed to drag everything out until mandatories fell due and then it couldn't happen.

Eddie is confident Joshua will beat all of the lesser contenders, he makes a fortune whenever he fights one of them, and so wants to spend 3 years going through the lot of them, rather than have a megafight that AJ might lose.

I have never seen a single post fight Eddie interview where, when asked 'what's next?' he has started talking about Fury or Wilder, it is always "well so and so is the mandatory, and then there is the Dilian rematch". Fury and Wilder always have to be brought up by the interviewer. I have never heard a single fan say they really want to see him rematch Dilian. He's as credible opponent as most are but people figure they have seen it already and can't think why it would be any better or different. But Eddie constantly talks it up as if there is some clamour for it, when he just sees it as an easy payday. If he was serious about Wilder or Fury he would never mention that rematch as it would just get in the way.

Wouldn't mind a few of whatever pills you're on. He's the one that got the fight made Laugh

But you've made your position obvious, so a futile conversation.

Watch that interview today, and he doesn't look too ****g happy to me.

But you've made your position obvious, so a futile conversation.

Not at all Timmy. Actually you have largely persuaded me. I saw the interview, pretty clear Arum and Warren (and maybe Fury) did not want it and it seems they had an opportunity to terminate the arbritration (never heard of it going on over a year) but were happy to let that play out, and then did nothing to bargain with Wilder's people.

So, yeah certainly is unfair to blame Eddie Hearn when he had apparently got the fight made and clearly Arum/Warren were the ones who did nothing.

I do think though AJ fighting  3 or 4 mandatories and carefully selected voluntaries for 2 and a half years is a situation Eddie is fine with.

All in all, as I said on the other thread where it was said to be a done deal, I never believed this fight was going to happen, but I should have apportioned blame properly.

Eddie is probably most annoyed about being tucked up by someone that looks like an extra from The Walking Dead Laugh

Fast Car is never hurting for dough, and look how big he's made his old man's firm since taking over years ago.

Yes, I'm sure it's lovely making money with AJ, but he's going to print money whatever happens. Sharps always do, and it will always be the case.

He has done more fighting than any of the other champions, so he has to fight his mandatories if he wants to keep all the belts.

They offered Wilder a bundle, and his mob wanted to keep mopping up with him. Again, you can't fault them, they're money men.

They **** up when they thought they had a washed up Fury for an easy payday, and then they'd move on to make the Joshua fight.
Report TimmyRiggins May 26, 2021 8:22 PM BST
As annoying as it is, fair play to Wilder for taking the fight, and not taking step aside money.

Like Hatton said, he wished he had some of these clauses, and he'd have taken a lump to sit on his ass LaughLaugh
