9/4 Garcia seems very big . Would have thought it would have been near 50-50 .

Garcia's one of the most over achieving/over hyped fighters in all of boxing for me lads. The fight was there for Zab last time out, he just couldn't take it.

It's a simple equation for me - Danny gets caught so much and Matthysse has got outstanding power while looking very durable. He's crude the Argentine but don't see Garcia's slightly better boxing skills being good enough to keep him out of danger. Should be a stoppage win for Lucas this, Garcia looks a ko defeat waiting to happen.

looking forward to this fight.

totally agree duketurtle! His standout win is khan, at time yea looked great but he was getting his socks boxed off and since then a very shop worn diaz nearly stopped khan. Then like you say the fight against judah said a lot, in my opinion judah could of took garcia out near the end... For me i can only see lucas stoppage trying to make my mind up if itll be early or mid

don't overthink it - matthysee to win by ko.  Him, GGG, and Kovalev are just not people to take on as of yet.
Report tobermory September 4, 2013 10:22 PM BST
Matthyse didn't do much better v Judah did he Confused
Report RBoyd86 September 4, 2013 11:50 PM BST
matthyse is a different animal compared to then
Report tobermory September 5, 2013 12:06 AM BST
Seems a bit short for this though, could turn out another Jeff Lacy type
Report RBoyd86 September 5, 2013 3:20 PM BST
lol u cant compare matthyse to lacy one bit... peterson is a solid operator and he mashed him up, in "loses" to devon n judah he in a lot of minds won... hes learnt from that and has gone on to a different level. I actually think this fight is going to only go couple rounds longer than the peterson fight
Report sonnyboyx22 September 5, 2013 3:20 PM BST
i have backed Garcia to win at odds of 9/4 and to win via KO,TKO or DSQ any round at odds of 13/2 i was really impressed how he handled Amir Khans speed and i feel Mattyhuese will prove a fairly easy fight for Garcia
Report sj September 5, 2013 4:03 PM BST
Lucas was robbed V Zab just as he was V Alexander
Report RBoyd86 September 5, 2013 4:18 PM BST
agree sj. and on garcia handling amirs speed? you must of been watching a different fight lol amir was destroying him with his speed, breaking him up. so garcia just tried to punch with him as couldnt deal with the speed, and as well all know amir doesnt have the best chin so night night... think a rewatch may be needed

Matthysse is a completely different animal now, compared to what he was a few years ago in the Zab & Devon fights.

Those who think Lucas is just a big puncher and nothing else, are very wrong about that imo. He's a very smart & patient fighter. And a better boxer than he gets credit for. Having said that, he can definitely be out boxed... but i don't think that Garcia is the right man for the job.
To beat Lucas at this point, you'll have to be fast with good movement, good defensively, and tough as hell. Because unless you've got Floyd type defense, he will land on you.
Of course he isn't unbeatable, but Garcia isn't good or fast enough to beat him imo. And i doubt that Garcia will be able to out bang him either. But i wouldn't dream of writing Garcia's power off... the guy can punch.

I respect Garcia alot, and he's probably Matthysse's toughest opponent of his career. But i'm definitely going with Lucas in this one.
Report RBoyd86 September 5, 2013 5:56 PM BST
i agree dannys got power but i dont no if its all its cracked up to be. Ko'ed amir looked spectacular but amir got caught while punching and as we all kno he doesnt have much of a  chin. The ko of morales looked great, but morales was shot to hell and caught him mid punch also. As everyone has pointed out the judah fight opens up a lot of ? if he punched that hard he had judah down but couldnt get him out. I kno they fought b4 but as stated by many matthyse diff fighter now, if matthyse had judah in that position no way is he rallying and nearly getting a comeback stoppage. SO he has gd power yea but thats all in my opinion
Report sj September 6, 2013 3:35 PM BST
Agree Boyd it looked like Amir was on his way to a mid round stoppage before the shot. Not taking anything away from danny Amir got caught in a exchange. If you watch the knockdown Amir is actually going to land first(or does) but gets caught by the better shot.
All Lucas as to do is watch out for that WIDE left hook, and it is wide think Danny pitches it from LA. Lucas is a very underated body puncher as well.
Danny cant box on the back foot, and is pretty flat footed you go down the record and his power seems to be overated on the back of Erik and Khan KO'
Report RBoyd86 September 6, 2013 6:20 PM BST
seems like were on the same lines here. Are you playing on the fight? if so what angle im thinking matthysse rounds 1-6.
Report sj September 6, 2013 8:03 PM BST
Managed to work the round group betting with Paddy so it works out just shy of even money a KO. They were 11-4 rnds 1-6 3-1 rnds 7-12

RBoyd86.
You think he'll finish him that early?

It took Lucas 10 rounds to finish Ajose, 6 to finish Martinez, & 8 to (finally) finish Corley.
I know that his power is for real, but Garcia seems like a very tough kid to me... despite him being hurt by Zab. And personally, i wouldn't be TOO surprised to see Garcia going the distance... but the most likely outcome for me is Matthysse by stoppage in the second half of the fight.

This is the big one for me on sep 14th... Floyd vs Canelo is huge of course, but this is definitely the one that i'm most excited about. Can't F'in wait!

Matthysse to win by any method.

WAR Lucas!!!

Surely not? Khan made him look like a concrete fence post until he got caught a little and ripped the game plan up.

Agree with the above comments, backed him against both Zab and Alexander but he's a different animal. Suspiciously in my view.

Report sj September 7, 2013 2:26 PM BST
I just think he's refined his attack more. He's always been a monster puncher and always had a great chin. Zab said Lucas' chin was the best he has faced

A lot depends on what kind of condition Lamont Peterson was in last time.

Matthyse was given so much credit for blowing away a fighter that gave Ortiz and Khan so much trouble, but maybe it just wasn't the same guy after having to come in with out PEDs Confused

Even if it was, you have to consider that Peterson started very badly v Ortiz and Khan too and was not far off being stopped early there.
Report gooner_mark September 15, 2013 3:10 AM BST
i cant see this going past 4 rounds and both are capable of stopping the other, £2 both fighters rounds 1-4 (hoping for garcia in the first for the biggest return lol)

The eye changed everything but that's credit to Garcia, his power caused damage first and I tip my hat to him. Who would you be with if they done it again Confused
