A nice double for Sakhees Secret at Bath today. He's a classic case of a reasonable stallion that gets his winners, but for whom the market has simply moved on.

Coolmore team are happy 17th and 18th on sageforms list.

It could be coincidence but after 20 years of keeping my stats, I still think that progeny of some sires come good at certain times of year. Kyllachy has had a flurry of winners including the last at Musselburgh last night at 16/1 and he now leads on 42. The other sires in the winners recently are Mastercraftsman (11 in May) and Monsieur Bond (27 for the year) who is well on target to beat his previous best of 49 in 2011. A younger sire getting a lot of winners is Fastnet Rock, yet another Danehill, who is now on 23 for 2016. The effect of softer turf instead of AW on Galileo offspring is even more dramatic this year with just one win in Jan-March compared to 21 in April and May. Cape Cross has been rather quiet since a fast start in January but his peak months are often July and August so expect his offspring to start winning soon.

Two more for Mastercraftsman today from 5 runners.

Good old FASTNET ROCK covered 376 mares in 2012 and 2013 @ A$ 275,000.00  a pop = A$103,400,000. 00.  It would be embarrassing to publish the amount of prize money won by his progeny.
MASTERCRAFTSMAN covered 313 mares in 2012 and 2013 and thanks to the Grey Gatsby and Kingston Hill,he now commands a fee of €35,000.00.

My reason for mentioning Mastercraftsman was that his total between Jan 1 and April 30 was 10. From May 1 to May 28 it was 13. Nothing to do with stud fee or the number of foals but your data is interesting. There must be an awful lot of them that are not winning or not racing in GB. Both of yesterdays winners were 3yo's over 12 furlongs which is perhaps surprising for a son of Danehill Dancer. Carnachy is his highest rated offspring to have run in GB this season (shame she didn't run yesterday) and I can only see 2 that have won over a mile, the rest 10 furlongs plus.

Meanwhile the Kodiac 2yo machine keeps turning out winners. Prince of Lir and Grizzel both impressed at Beverley.

I notice there is a Dubawi running today in The Oaks. Well done to the only representitive of every single stallion stud in the World.

Two for Galileo today moves him to move him up to 27, all bar one since April 1. After Sir Percy comfortably being the best Derby winner in my table last year, this time Galileo leads from Sea The Stars on 23 and Sir Percy on 22.

A surge of wins this week, the latest Kodi Da Capo at Hamilton, brings Kodiac up to 50 GB wins this year, 2 clear of Acclamation and Exceed and Excel on 48 each.

Just noticed my mistake in the last post, Should have been Kyllachy not Acclamation. The leaders are all still siring winners so the current state of play is:

a lot further down but in form recently is Authorised. He only has 14 GB wins this year but 8 of those were in June! Permission was an impressive debut winner at Newmarket.

This is not good enough for our reputable Stud Farm.
Why don't you do a list for stallions that can sire winners who are slow and  win races at Royal Ascot at a distance of over 2 miles.

Chalk up one more for Acclimation yesterday with Marsha.

That may have not been the best renewal of that race ever but she bolted up.  Jockey was quoted in the RP saying his arm had gone to sleep by half way she was pulling so hard but she still won with ears pricked.  He described her as an aeroplane :-)  Lets hope she is more Typhoon than Cessna :-)

She certainly looked a lot better than listed on that evidence but were any of the others listed class?

Gotchee, if I was O'Brien and Coolmore I would not be unhappy with my stallion called Galileo. He may not get many all weather winners but you need to win 20 of those to get the same prize money as one at Royal Ascot. He has double the prize money of Sea The Stars who is currently second in the official table and 6 progeny rated 120 on RPR this season to date. My stats are deliberately based on a very different basis in order to show that relatively unfashionable sires do produce a lot of winners at a lower level while some expensive ones don't. Bushranger and Monsieur Bond continue to outperform their price but sadly the former is now in Turkey!.

I am certainly mature, but not necessarily well informed. Not sure where that picture of my earlier life came from....

the MB strike rate does look quite impressive. He had a little spell a few years ago when he got his fee up to £5k and covered a fair few mares. I assume we will see this feed into your stats in the next year or two. My opinion of him is that he doesn't get precocious types and hence he is slipping off the radar a little. If he can get a nice winner or two this year he is right up my street.

Black Grass completed a 4 timer this evening. Bowson Fred, Crosse Fire and Agueroo all triple winners as well for MB.

Sageform-there was one other horse in the race rate 100+ and Marsha was getting 10lbs from her.

The rest were handicappers-but she made them look like that anyway.

She is in a Group 2 sprint in Ireland next month-if she runs there it will tell us more as to how good she is.

The current plan is a listed race at York next month, followed by the Irish Gp2 and if all's well, The Nunthorpe is a possibility.....

True, Both  Galileo and Sea the Stars are doing really well in terms of quality winners. My table deliberately highlights number of wins but does not reflect the quality. It is also interesting that during the prevailing softer ground, Cape Cross and Oasis Dream are very quiet.

Sageform-MARSHA does indeed run at York on Saturday.

This looks a much stronger race with a host of group/listed performers in it-so I guess we'll see how good she really is.

Thanks for that. As I expected, the firm ground sires are starting to get winners now. Oasis Dream, Invincible Spirit both with a win today but Cape Cross still quiet. Fawaareq was surprisingly easy to back and has set me up for the day.

Permission also runs again today and looks very interesting although the pedigree does not indicate 7 furlongs.

Wrote that too soon-Montataire wins for Cape Cross at Ascot.

Permission never really given a chance ridden from last and did well to get into the first 5 over an inadequate trip and ground.

Well done if you backed Marsha. I stuck with Easton Angel so kicking myself. After Quiet Reflection's run at Newmarket (Kachy was second at Ascot), the form looks very strong.

So far today, Acclamation 3 wins (60 for the year) , Dubawi and Dark Angel 2 each.

Kodiac maintains a clear lead but Acclamation and Exceed and Excel are keeping in touch .Dark Angel also had another strong month in fourth.

Yet another milestone for Kodiac today. Jawaayiz was his 100th GB flat winner of 2016. His record of 135 from last year looks very beatable now. Exceed and Excel and Acclamation on 89 and 87 respectively.

One of the most remarkable entries on this list is Arcano - I was bemused when they ejected this lad and he's shown them up by combining more winners with better class winners too.  Best value on the list by some way

Agreed, Arcano is steadily improving as is Sea The Stars. Dubawi and Shamardal are both down in total GB numbers but have plenty of high quality offspring abroad.

Kodiac continues to extend his lead and is well on target to beat the 2015 total of GB wins.

Elraazy by Dubawi out of the great mare Eswarah managed a first win at Haydock. Unlikely to be Group class but might win a few more now.

Sir Prancealot with 16 wins since August 1 is now clear top of the first season list in terms of GB wins with a year total of 26.
