i will stay in france.....if his results do not improve in UK !!

Won't be too sad if he doesn't come back. 4 consecutive years at £25000, it's almost as if they assumed he was going to be a success. Nice to know it's still the case that you can't just buy success.

Can see them being better at 3 than 2 but a) that wouldn't be difficult and b) I cant imagine it being 25k worth of better.

Things are looking up now.
It only takes one.

Ijmaaly looks one to follow as well

Also, very encouraging debut 2nd from Hannon Makfi 2yo today at Newbury.

Think myself and others judged him too quickly.

Go with your gut instinct Wily, it generally wont fail you often. Cool

Another wide margin maiden winner for Makfi today. "Making Shapes" wins by 6L for Peter Chap-Hyam.

Seems that given a bit of time and soft ground he can do the business.

too little too late

I have also begun to look hard at Makfi progeny. Nelspruit looks a very likely winner today and Rocket Punch (Good 4.50) is also interesting. Just 10 wins in his debut season was modest but he is on 11 so far this year, 7 of those in May.
Report sageform May 22, 2015 7:33 PM BST
Nelspruit won after a bit of a battle and then Taking Liberties has just won a good 2yo contest at Pontefract.
Report Breedingmad May 23, 2015 12:25 AM BST
Seemed to be better on faster ground at first but has been bolting home on a softer surface
more recently bu very much a Sire to follow in the right races..

Taking Liberties is one of the better 2yo's to date but its very early in the year. Makfi had a lot of good mares in his first 2 years and I still think in 2 years he will be forgotten. Also if you paid £25k for him in his 3rd season you paid £15k too much.

Fabricate became the 10th winner in May for Makfi. Not sure why he had so few in the first few months but certainly firing now.
Report Wilycayote May 23, 2015 1:34 PM BST
Another good Makfi win with "Fabricate" who will now be rated in the 90's.

I am beginning to enjoy watching his winners prove us wrong.
Report Wilycayote May 31, 2015 10:20 PM BST
Qatar obviously backed off buying Makfi's last season, but with his new found winning habit will they get stuck in again?

Think they might go a bit quiet if we have a dry summer though, but I doubt we will!!!

Rocket Punch another impressive winner for Makfi this evening.

Alaweer won by 6l on Tuesday at Ponte...Taking Libertys to run in the superlative G2 Newmarket Saturday.

Best 3yo rated 100 (RPR.

Behind Captain Gerrard on 2yo tables with his second season 2yo's at £25k and CG 3rd season at £2k. He won't be coming back from France.
