Elite Racing's Foundation mare Kalinka

Sad to say that ERC's last foundation mare Kalinka was put to sleep recently.

Kalinka (by Soviet Star) was the dam of many of Elite's best horses including Champion racemare Soviet Song, and her sister Sister Act (dam of G1 winner Ribbons) as well as the Grade 1 winning hurdler Penzance.

A sad day for the club and particularly Maurice Camacho and his team who's devoted care of the mare and her progeny over the last 15 years or so has so contributed to the club's success.

Of course, the dynasty lives on with her daughters Soviet Song, Baralinka, Marlinka, Kalinova and Affinity all club broodmares, and of course her granddaughter Ribbons will no doubt join them in the next few years.
