could'nt believe he is selling all his stock ,taught he was quite new to the game , or was he just another in a long list of people to find out that spending big money fast will not bring success .Aldo he has had some good success one feel's he was hope n for so much more ,or maybe he see's this as a great time to sell with so much oil money floating around plus interest from american money men .The top end of the market could not be stronger .Plus he's using goffs so il be able to go up and have a look at how the other 1% spend there money .Would love to here the taughts of some of the main men in the know on the forum ,i can already see POTM  digging out the check book blowing the dust off that bad boy for some serious action come nov 23

The official line in the RP from the 5 Sept:

"THE success of his runners was cited as one of the reasons behind Australian ownerbreeder Paul Makin's decision to disperse his bloodstock interests, writes Katherine Fidler. "I decided to sell 'on the sizzle', when nearly all of the stock is at its peak," said Makin, "leaving lots of upsides for the next person."

Makin will be offering 25 lots through the Castlebridge Consignment at the Goffs November sale, including Irish Oaks winner Chicquita.

"Selling can be just as much fun as buying," he added.

Makin, whose mares board at Mountain View Stud in County Meath, also commented on the dramatic move.

"All of the Paulyn breeding stock is already in Ireland and by the time of the sale all of our racing horses, and some as yet unraced two-year-olds, will be on farms in Ireland," said Makin. "Our consignor is Irish and the Irish government need a boost. I love Ireland and I hope this dispersal, without reserves, will encourage other vendors to come along for the ride. We will make money, and it should be good fun!"

Lingbleed I occasionally do get the dust blown off my badboy, but trust me I cannot do that one myself!

I fear that you might have me moving in those exalted circles but in which case you have me confused with others in this community who are somewhat sporadic with their posts right now. Mind you johnnymustang is a dark horse - he might get his bidding boots on.

As everyone on here knows I am very much on the periphery in this game, just occasionally venturing out to the sales  to attempt the sale of something no beggar usually wants to buy. A such I can only guess at Paul Makin's motivation. I imagine if anyone wanted to look him up on the big bad web we might get a clue if things are sticky for him right now but I rather suspect it is as you say, his stock is at it's zenith and it would be fun to create some fireworks.

If I loved the thrill of the 'trade' I can imagine it might be fun to sell at the top and try and start all over again next year. Perhaps he will. A lot of his current stock will have cost him dear mind so it would be fascinating to know how successful this venture will be.

Unfortunately only those closely involved with a lot of his private purchases will be really able to hazards guess at that one.

Thanks for the replies ,as i did think it was only recent he was buying up all these blue hen's ,and they sure dont come cheap , i believe i seen some where (must be be true then) that the aga khan sold sarfina for 10 million to japan ,if that's the sort of money it takes to get some one to release their prized hen ,id be surprised if he breaks even .Another way to view it is if juddmonte were to start release there stock next year ,his would somewhat get lost and de valued a little where as now his are the box office lots , so maybe he's trying to beat them to it ,as the Qatar boy's are'nt shy with the cash .well i best start buying those euro million ticketsHappy

You've rumbled me PotM. I will indeed be flying out to Goffs in my private jet. I'll ask the pilot to keep the engine running, saunter across to the sales ring, throw in a couple of kingmaker bids and be home again by teatime.
