Trawling through the Newsells website this afternoon I see that they have sent 2 mares to Cacique this year.
If the info is correct, does anyone know to what extent Cacique was covering this year and if his return from retirement yielded any results?

Also interestedly I don't think that any of their proven mares went to Galileo but one that is in foal to him is Date With Destiny. I remember the quotes when she was purchased out of training that there was no sentiment involved in the purchase and she was acquired on her own merits.
For me, it would require plenty of sentiment to get her up to that level of mating!

I don't know if Cacique has yielded any results yet but as I understood his situation he was standing on solely private terms and not at public stud.Sending him a mare would be a private deal between Juddmonte and the breeder evolving expensive veterinary treatment without any guarantee of conception.

As for George Washington's daughter Date with Destiny I'd have thought Galileo would be an obvious commercial choice.

I am not sure Galileo is a sound commercial choice for any mare given his bandied about fee level!

I don't know how many yearlings by him will actually make money - 41 of his yearlings made less than 300k euros last year - but I reckon D with D is more likely to figure in the bottom third of his book than the top third. It's always a gamble this game but these are high stake wagers for sure.

Are you on sabbatical in France Prima? Good job you can't see the fetching shade of green I have turned at the thought of it Cry

It's true any breeder sending Galileo a mare cannot be certain of a healthy return with his fee but we all can dream of hitting the jackpot.Date with Destiny would perhaps on the bare face of it isn't good enough but with the success of Danehill mares with Galileo the fact she is by a superb son of Danehill would surely counter the stark page of the filly. So you may be indeed right sentiment may have clouded their judgement.

I have been away and have spent some time in France and the U.S.this week,I've found this weather very tiresome to say the least.HQ last weekend was a washout!!!!!

what have you heard to be Galileo's fee?

victors I am sure there are nearly as many fee levels for Galileo as there are mares visiting him. A massive ammount of them will be foal shares enabling Coolmore to keep tabs on them and hoover them up or chuck them out according to the results. One figure though might be 250k as a ball park?

That's a fairly accurate appraisal of Galileo's terms of his fee remember he's 'private' it means just that. And like Pot M points out the large majority are foal shares.I doubt any breeder who sends him a mare will come on here announcing what they paid for his services..........if we do anyone could immediately see how much we made or lost as the case may be,no-one would want anyone else knowing that!He is without doubt the most sought after stallion in the game and his fee sits accordingly.

I heard of a very very serious mare whos owner had to fork out 185k last year AND only get to keep it if its a filly! (which it was). Could be bull but I doubt it.
