Staying sires.

There are a small number of sires that can produce good class stayers (and I mean 2 miles plus) and the Northumberland Plate produced a clean sweep for 3 of the best ones. Linamix only has a few runners left in training but at his peak, I always looked for them in this kind of race. Likewise Generous, who has been a failure over all, produces a few wins of extreme distances each year. The third was by Sadlers Wells who does not need me to advertise his legacy.
