Not being in 'the loop' I was not aware that The Queen had purchased Memory from Highclere racing.

Given that The Queen has spent a large part of her breeding career battling with temperamental families it is interesting that she has had a crack with another similar type. I also find it a little uncomfortable that the agent for both vendor and purchaser is one and the same.

Memory has a workmanlike pedigree but I'm also a bit uneasy with her tryst with Galileo. A lot of money on a pretty diverse mating. The whole excercise smacks of a leap of large faith!

She was a late withdrawal from Dec' sales,I'm sure HRH received totally impartial adviceLaughand of course Highclere TB's also received the highest possible price for Memory. We can probably guess who has made the most out of the deal its easy to see where he got the 'Motivator' from sorry motivation..............but then that's being rather cynical isn't it!What a brilliant position to find 'one's self' in Vendor adviser and purchaser all in one......I'm sure it was too much to go for a Knighthood as well, this time anyway!

I'm sure he's been offered a knighthood Prima, but self effacing and modest that he is I daresay he turned it down Laugh

you cant act in the best interest of both vendor and purchaser. Somebody got screwed in this deal, but as always he will get away with it.

the epitomy of having your cake and eating it. Where will it end?

this seems more like a of a distribution of wealth amoungst one's loyal subjects rather than a bloodstock deal.

From The Independent, 2009
The Queen is expected to ask the Government to double the income she receives from the Civil List after accounts published yesterday showed she was living millions of pounds beyond her means.

Figures released by Buckingham Palace revealed that royal expenditure rose to a record £41.5m during the last financial year, an increase of £1.5m.

To settle her bills the Queen has been forced to dip into the royal reserves which have been built up over the past 19 years. These are expected to run out by 2012 during the Queen's Diamond Jubilee year.

Four questions therefore:

1. As taxpayers, do you lot over there all own a piece of Memory?

2. Shouldn't you all have a bit of input in what stallions she uses?

3. Is a nom to Galileo 'living beyond one's means'? He's worth it, isn't he?

4. Poor old Royal Applause at the Royal Studs must feel a little disenfranchised, no?

Shocked

Are not all people that have shares with Highclere mugs anyway. Getting ripped off again will not harm then even if they noticed.
Maybe she gets the cover to Galileo for free, well the others give her Street Cry yearlings.

Having Victory Kingdom as third dam is something I quite like in a pedigree '-)

I have given your post some thought Johnny Mustang. Not least your own place of origin. Not British then, and indeed not part of the Commonwealth, I have currently got you down as a Latvian blacksmith/bookies runner. Am I getting close yet?!

I am hopeful that The Queens' funding is on a slightly steadier footing now as after your investigative skills I've now offered to stump up the price of a Kyllachy nom - to keep yer ma and Sageform happy - for Memory as we're going foal share now you've pointed out that I was a part owner.

Don't feel as a foreign subject you can't help out and send her a little chequie. . . Grin
