Apologies for what is probably a novice question, but could somebody please explain to me why Yeats is not being advertised on Coolmore's National Hunt Roster? Surely his name belongs alongside the likes of Scorpion, Ask and Getaway?

Is there much appeal among (flat) breeders for a horse that has won four Ascot Gold Cups given that it is run over 20 furlongs?

I think its only a matter of time until he joins the NH ranks really KeMoH.You may remember once he was a serious Epsom Derby contender who was held in high regard by his connections,as a result and being one of the last great sons of Sadlers Wells they decided to give him a chance as a flat stallion,I think he does deserve a crack.
You ask is there much commercial appeal among flat breeders for a horse who stayed so far, well the answer is no not really, gone are the days when we would use such a horse I think the last good Ascot Gold Cup winner given a serious chance as a flat sire was Ardross and look where he ended up a jump sire.I feel Yeats will at best be a stallion who could sit comfortably as the owner breeder type able to get the classy flat horse of GR class alongside getting top flight jump horses. One things for sure if he is going to ever succeed as a successful flat stallion he's in the best place as his connections have such strength and depth within their broodmare band in terms of class and numbers they will give him the best chances,as commercial breeders like ourselves maybe would love to send him a good mare but we also know sadly it would be a commercial disaster  to do so certainly right now anyway.

After he won that Coronation Cup they really needed to back it up with another middle Distance Gr 1, preferably at 1m2f but lets not dream, a creditable Arc or King geroge run would have helped butif he'd done that we wouldn't have had all the history of the 4 Gold Cups.

He has an amazing presence by all accounts and he could be horse to give Coolmore NH real top notch credibility being a GC winner, avoid the sense of another failed Derby horse that went for the ledger. i've high hopes for both him and Westerner as they are the type NH breeders should ideally be going for imo, real stayers.

If he had been rolled a different set of dice then he would obviously have different chances. However I am really pleased to see he has been given some chance with flat mares.

Ofcourse he will probably end up National Hunting as most do - or somewhere hot (Plagiarising Prima Donna - again!)or under the knife. However he could also be the next Montjeu and I'm pleased he might just have been afforded enough chances to prove if that is the case.
