Aussie Rules to Lanwades

I think its a good development, i have often thought coolmore should stand some of their cheaper ones over here as the cost of travelling and boarding is a big % of a 5k stallion.

As for him being a reject, I dont think he is seen as a failure ( i'm sure i'll be corrected if i'm wrong!!), but not as desirable as similar priced types in ireland. Over here the competition is a lot less. For my part i thnk he's a nice type that gets enough winners and if the price is right he will get enough mares.

on the question of price, he needs to be less than 5k and gettable for 3k which will put him in the same bracket as Kheleyf etc.

I'd already said on another thread that I thought this fella had done alright.  I think it's a bit cheaky them asking for £5K when Coolmore were going to stand him for Euro5K which is about £4K sterling.  Having said that I think he's priced alright.  I think he could overcome the stigma of "coolmore reject", it's not as if he's gone to Korea.  He does get early 2yos - Dinkum Diamond, Boomerang Bob so I think he will have some appeal.   

This industry is so damn fickle though it's almost impossible to tell what will be commercial and what wont be.

you are right 5k too much. a price increase, however small, is not really warranted. puts him on the same mark as another danehill dancer, Monsieur Bond. I'm sure this won't go unnoticed with breeders over here and may well keep some mares away.

it seems to me that if you were going to purchase this type of stallion to stand in England, its biggest attraction would be value.

Aussie Rules never went through the sales ring as a yearling. He was bred by Lanwandes by the looks of things. I would guess they've owned a share in him all along. Maybe Coolmore have given up on him and Lanwandes have taken him; save sending him off to the Far East.

Aussie Rules was bred by the late Fahd Salman but you would have to guess it might have been a foal share.

He retained an element of the horse whilst racing and I daresay at stud. The family stud Denford is now in partnership with Lanwades.

Lanwades are capable of discounting a horse so I guess there would be room for negotiation and I agree that is necessary.
