Camelot as short as 8-1 for the Epsom Derby , will aim to justify his short price , with victory in the RPT . On some stats he does fit the profile of an Epsom Derby type. His foaling date of March 5th, 7 of the last 20 Derby winners were born in the month of March, which equals 35% . Also he is sired by Montjeu, who has sired the winner of the Derby 3 times in the last 7 years = 42.86%.
Well, i guess we dont know if Camelot will handle the track or go on G-F ground. I am waiting to see how Parish Hall has progressed from 2-3 years, a Dewhurst winner who has a pedigree to suggest 1m4f should be his distance, but he will require the ground to be at least good or firmer, i think Jim made the right decision not to run Parish Hall in the Guineas as the ground was softer than G-S imo. If St Nick had got soft ground for his Giuneas i am sure he would have finished better than 6th .

I don't know push,I'm wondering if Parish Hall is like his sire..........not trained on we will see soon enough I guess. I'm sure the ground didn't help St.Nicholas Abbeys guineas run,but I'm sure too his biggest problem wasn't the ground it was his trainer.I will remain firmly of the opinion St.Nicholas Abbey had more than enough ability to win the guineas he was looking pretty exceptional in the spring of his 3y'old year, but was given far too much hard work as his trainer has recently said.Still they got it right this time.I think Camelot will win at Epsom,Slick is no so sure she tells me......

Ooh, ooh, a snifter of info from the Organ Grinder. Butt out Monkey, what's the real brains got to say?
I like to think that Camelot will win the Derby, but ofcourse there are plenty out there who said that a Montjeu could never win the guineas and presumably they will now be saying that Camelot is atypical, and therefore, will he stay?
My view is that there will be plenty of improvement with his fitness, as I have taken your word Prima that they weren't going to sacrifice his whole career for the Guineas this time around, and that there will be improvement for a longer trip so I am very excited. I suppose though as with many excitements, it doesn't go hand in hand with supreme confidence. . .

Did Teofilo not train on, i thought he got injured or is that Jim speak for not trained on ? Both Teofilo and Parish Hall look the type to train on at 3 years. He is entered in a few Derby trials so hopefully we should see him soon.

Push,I don't know what really went wrong with Teofilo but I'm not convinced it was a straightforward as we were all told,Parish Hall will be one I shall be looking out for when and if we see him.Was he that good?
Pot M,Sorry but its the Monkey again the Organ Grinder says that its very dangerous of so many people to almost assume Camelot will win the Derby, she does think he most likely will from what we have so far seen but just because he's a son of Montjeu who won a Guineas doesn't guarantee a win,a win that has been spoken of with almost certain confidence in some quarters.

Wise words Prima, but I suppose we all need to get a bit over excited as otherwise there's no point in even being in the game. Hopefully the Trials will bring out plenty of competition and we can look forward to a humdinger next month.
