..will he get a chance at Juddmonte ?

He's obviously got the Observatory factor to overcome, but has proved a durable high-class horse over the years. Maybe not very top class, but still worth a spot at stud if you ask me. In fact he's probably at the best place given he's one for the breed-to-race rather than the commercial breeder.

Would you send a mare to him ?

I think he's been discussed quite a lot on here B S B so my apologies for repeating myself probably.

I agree completely that he does deserve a place at stud. Obviously the sort of racehorse that we should all be hoping to produce, if he were to get his like consistently he would be a great asset to the breed.

If.

I have not seen the horse in the flesh but on the telly he perhaps doesn't seem to resemble Observatory, perhaps owing more to the leggy Nijiinsky 11 thing. Observatory is a problem though as is his size and I would imagine his stock will take plenty of time.

I think he would be better in the States as they wouldn't be hung up by the size thing like here. I wouldn't like to hazard a guess what will happen to him as Juddmonte must know that he isn't going to be every commercial breeders cup of tea. Is there enough owner breeder interest to heep him amused? Recent history suggests not. Halling, Hernando, Singspiel and the like cover(ed) enough mares to pay the bills and if Juddmonte are happy to play that game then perhaps that is what will happen.

Would I use him? Most unlikely. Terrific horse though, most delighted to be proved wrong!

Fact he is still in training speaks a lot imo, really handsome horse though, but he is huge apparently.

Black Sam,A very tough horse and a very smart runner, and I agree does deserve a slot at stud but although he is from a classy family, like you suggest he's never going to be commercial so I'd give him a miss.
I also agree he is in the best place Juddmonte will surely support him (with the B list mares) and most likely race some of his stock,I could see him taking over from his unfashionable sire but again like you say only as an owner breeder sire.
