workrider,George is alive and well but choosing to remain silent on these forums nowadays. He has a good understanding of bloodstock but sadly for him is the unacceptable face of the industry however hard he tried to be a mover and shaker,I cant believe people find it so hard to know who he is its not hard.I made a point of speaking to him one sales,it left me in no doubt as to who GG was.Think of a person who at one time looked like going forward only to fall back down............and will never recover......the national stud did him no favours.[;)]Grin

What a fantastic operation the National Stud has become since Brian O'Rourke took over.

I think GG was before my time on this forum. However I remember I had an altercation with someone at Tatts many years ago and your posts on here have me wondering.

The altercation at Tatts was partly caused by my being quite within my rights over a matter, but in practical terms I admit I wasn't being overly helpful.

Anyway the string of vitriol that eminated from this person - whom I had never met - including some pretty personal stuff purporting to have come from a mutual acquaintance - it hadn't - left me pretty shaken and I spent the next few years avoiding him. Subsequent events, including his moving under somewhat cloudy circumstances on more than one occasion, confirmed my sanity and perhaps his lack of!

Do I have the elusive GG ?Confused Grin

is this going to be like prima's cryptic clues to Hawk Wing on a different forum last year, rather enjoyed that one.

workrider,Sorry not to reply sooner,I'm sure you have the guy and yeah the seasons gone pretty much to plan.Of the new foals we have a few of the Dandy Man's are nice along with a Bushranger filly who is a lovely individual,I don't know about sending my heart racing but we have a colt by Sea the Stars there was plenty of excitement waiting for that one. Each season is like a rollercoaster ride as you know we seem to lurch from one drama to the next like most studs I'm sure.Happy

Pot M,
I think you have the man,one who has a massive chip on his shoulder,he always looked the sort you can imagine working at a butchers shop or maybe one of those van driving ice cream men, from memory he was once connected to the stud that stand your friend SS,always moving forward but never really getting there if you know what I mean, have a think DMCK.

Prima, do you find yourself more often surprised and pleased by the cheapies or surprised and disappointed by the pricies?

Thats asking for a sweeping generalisation I know, but it's such a long way to fall when the money's down isn't it. Mind you when I've spent too much money I do my damndest to 'make' them nice and keep my head buried in the wettest of sand Cry

G G's  actual initials, would they have a religious connotation? [;)]

Gorgeousgeorge was a most prolific poster on here. I thought he was a gent. He and I disagreed about certain aspects of modern-day breeding and it was fairly obvious that he was in the game and I wasn`t. However he was never patronising or condescending, though he could be caustic with some.
Come back george.

Pot m, Yes you seem to have the right man. There would be religious connotations, there are plenty of them over here.
As for the foals. I would sum it up by saying that the cheapies generally have lower expectations so a good one is a bigger thrill. The reverse being true of the pricies. When expectations are high there is further to fall. I know what yuo man about the head burying though. With my own favorite mare there was plenty of that! The sale ring is a harsh tool of extraction I find. Success from the cheapies, either in the ring or on the racetrack, is always sweeter though and gives me personally the most satisfaction.

Thanks Prima. I knew I was there when I imagined him with a stripey apron!!

You are very astute - but then one or two of your deals over the years would perhaps indicate that Laugh

Talking of shady types (him not you!), we are having the most fabulous time over here with Rupie, Jim and Rebekah.
I hope you guys over there are 'enjoying' it as much as we are. It's such a hoot coming in at tea time to the next installment!

I'm glad you got the right man Pot M,and just for the record I don't care for him either, but saying that he was a good contributor on this forum his posts were always worth reading.
And I'd like to think I am astute in business anyway, but I know I make myself look idiotic now and again on here but really so what its only one of many public internet forums.
And yes I too have been watching that lot can't help but think Rebekah Brooks will be the fall guy.......

He certainly left some decent little jobs

But he was a success at buying foals with punch

If it's who I think he is, let's just say he had a lynch mob after him. Am I right?
