Just watching yesterdays race and I have noticed how big Frankel is in height and girth. Does this mean it would not want fast ground as its joints would take some hammering due to the horses sheer size ?
Hearts.no1, a horses ground preferences are not necessarily linked to what is going to cause it least damage.
As you point out he appears ( I haven't seen him ) to be a strong deep horse with plenty of top. This may be all about his maternal grandsire, Danehill. Danehill's frequently liked top of the ground and if Frankel's limbs are as solid he should be just fine on fast ground if as it seems those are his conditions of preference.
But as you say, with a colt like him you need the timber underneath!

he will always be better on fastish ground imo. the fastest ground he has encountered was at doncaster and he moved like a dream. although the donny going was given as good it was much faster than that.
