Anyone else a bit disappointed at this decision.? Ok its easy see the logic - lets produce another Zarkava who is also out of a Kahyasi mare but in fairness Zamindar is not a reliable sire and his fee of 12k indicates this. Surely the outstanding broodmare currently alive deserves better!

Don't agree victors, reckon this should be a great mating. Can you not see that if she gets a good/top class filly then that would be very easy to mate later on.........method in the madness perhaps!

I can see that but I don't think they are playing the percentages well. Dom't forget there's a 50% chance of getting a colt and zamindar doesn't scream  'sire of sires'! Zamindar has sired only 3% stakes winners to foals,  which is well short of top class. Also zarkava is the only one of the 5 foals of racing age bred on the zamindar/kahyasi to actually run or win (although I don't have full details of the others so that may be slightly misleading). There are plenty of other and better sires out there who would also be easy for a filly to breed with- Dubawi jumps out

Sure good points above but poss'when you think that Hasili is now 20 years old, perhaps she is starting to get smallish foals,Zamindar is not small by any stretch of the imagination could be a factor, but Dubawi is nice but big he is not and then think that Juddmonte may know for sure she is carrying a colt to Oasis Dream, then its very likely she may get a filly by Zamindar who as you point out only has got 3% stakes winners to foals but what he has shown is that he is very capable of getting ultra top class filly's.
One from this family by Zamindar would be a future great asset for any stud and remember what a good BM sire Zafonic is showing, then I think I'm right in thinking that Juddmonte like to use their own stallions to develop the family's further.I must say mind when I read the news I did think there are better stallions for mares of her class but thinking it over since it makes sense to me,lets hope she does get a filly at least.

Big disappointment!
In my experience you should never send a mare to a stallion as part of a theory that requires you getting a foal of a certain sex, as obviously half the time it backfires. He's a very poor sire of colts, plus his offspring are often pretty gawky. But hope they get lucky.

Understand they want to keep her on the farm. I'd have no hesitation but to send her back to Oasis Dream. Can't imagine a more exciting mating, I hope the imminent OD foal is nice.

Am I allowed to agree with you all? !

It has to be about fillies doesn't it. All her daughters with the exception of Deluxe are either Danehill or Green Desert so they must be desperate for a daughter that can knit with those sire-lines which are  currently so dominant. I wonder too, as she is due late and that is after an empty year or so that it is less hassle to stay in house. Zamindar is very fertile and he won't be busy IF she looks a viable cover atall.

I think too that Dubawi would be quite strong odds to get a little and a bit ordinary foal out of Hasili at this stage in her career.

And afterall, when a mare is as good as Hasili, there isn't really any stallion out there that is good enough for her is there!

No choice but Zamindar if you want to stay with your own stallions and want 'fresh' blood.  Her full sister has two OD mares so why another try with OD....oh for that choice.  StS would be my free choice - theyd a decent Cape Cross x Kahyasi last year.

I know Juddemont arnt exactly Coolmore but does it not make commerical sense to get a high class runner by one of their lesser sires hence giving him exposer and all going well increase his cover fee?

Also knowing how K Abdulla wants to breed great horses and DK Weld run something in a listed race in france as he battled the Aga Khan for leading owner maybe he is jealous of the Aga Khan having Zarkava
Report Prima Donna February 17, 2011 6:41 PM GMT
DMCK,
Doubt that K.Abdulla is in anyway jealous of the fact the Aga owns and bred Zarkava.Reckon also that Zamindar is in no way a lesser sire than any other in his price range,he has sired really top class stock but is at his level add in the fact he is now 17 years old, even if this resulting foal does go on to be outstanding on the racetrack Zamindar will be too old to enhance his reputation or stud fee.
Report DMCK February 24, 2011 9:46 PM GMT
okay jeaslously maybe incorrect but maybe envy.

the whole issue of sending Hasili to Zamindar is like Coolmore sending SEQUOYAH to the Rock
Report Prima Donna February 25, 2011 5:38 PM GMT
Well DMCK I still don't think K.Abdulla would be even envious,he can always draw comfort from the fact he at least owns Zarkava's sire Zamindar.

I have to add that I don't think 'The Rock' has been anywhere near as successful as Zamindar in the stallion ranks, the same view could be held when comparing Sequoyah and Hasili.
