Maybe a ridiculus couple o question but here goes...
1. If STS is covering all these mares at 85k a go then the owner (mr tsui?) is making a fortune I agree. However if he wants an offspring from his wonder colt then does HE have to pay another owner so sts can cover they're mare so he can keep the foal?
2. Is zarkava in foal to sts? If so does the aga khan keep it and race it under his colours?
1. Goes straight in Mr Tsui's account but does have to pay the bills for keeping such a stallion safe and well. The Tsui's have a few mares but i would think they would buy at the sales mind you if they wanted to.
2.
Aga Khan owns since he spent the 85k in first place to cover her with STS which looks very cheap indeed imo

Gracie, The Aga Khans Studs stand the horse on behalf of the Tsui's. The stud may have bought into him and therefore own a small proportion of him and if so they have the right to send the same proportion of mares that he covers. Chances are though that they have been given a much smaller proportion of him in lieu of the cost of keeping him at their establishment and that is the proportion of the mares that they may send. Any mares they send over that ammount they will have to get the chequebook out.
The Tsui's have bought some choice mares to send to him, and they have a few existing ones that may suit. Other than The Aga Khan's arrangement, it is up to them how many outside mares they accept at 85g and how many they use of their own.
At this level, quite a bit of swapping nominations goes on - your Danehill Dancer nomination for my Sea The stars etc. so the super rich get richer!! (way of the world)
I am not aware of any lifetime breeders rights/shares etc. having been sold - anyone else?

Many thanks for your replies guys, say for example the tsui's wanted a "flawless" foal an wanted it by sts out of zarkava both of which are at the disposal of the aga khan is that sort of thing ever done? ie sending your stallion to a mare for a foal by your own stallion, rather than most people sending the mare to get covered by a stallion?

Gracie I am not quite sure what you are angling at but presumably you know that physically, the stallion always holds court and the mare will travel to him. In a perverse sort of way a mare like Zarkava whilst not having anything like the monetary value of Sea The Stars is actually almost a a more coveted item. Because a horse like Sea The Stars will be thrown open to 100+ mares a year his services are not totally unique. Zarkava on the other hand can manage only one foal a year and she is precious indeed. Therefore she would not be available to produce foals for anyone but the Aga Khan and she would be courted by any stallion master in the world just in the hope that she could enhance that stallions record. Very occaisionally a good mare would be leased by a top breeder as a way of the mare owner making some money whilst retaining ownership of the mare. That however would be small owner leasing mare to bigtime breeder, not as in this case the other way round.
P.s. Any foal by See The Stars out of Zarkava may have a near 'flawless' pedigree, but law of averages says that it wouldn't be a flawless individual!

Millionaire, many thanks 4 ur sensible and well informed replies, I understand more clearly now and you kinda hit my point... The aga khan and the tsui's surley have struck some deal so they have some ownership together or at least potential for the tsui's to get a foal from sts/zarkava, the tsui's don't need the 85k that much surely?? I mean are they giving the Kahn a " perfect " foal just in exchange for standing their stud at the aga khans stud farm? If I owned sts I would like a sts/zarkava foal!
Ps. I understand the "perfect" breeding might not produce the perfect horse, but you couldn't wish fur a better maw n paw!!
