I saw a Celtic Swing yearling that i bred while i was over at Goodwood(only there for one day). I was expecting to see a nice looking yearling that could maybe provide the owner with a nice two year old but it was the most backward looking yearling i have seen. I had two foals last year by Celtic Swing(was nearly cheaper to cover the two of them than one) and i have to say that a nice one couldn't be made between the two of them. The two mares there out of have been sold since and my god do i feel luckyHappy

Apologies, but he wouldnt have struck me as the likely sire of a two year old.

celtic swing would have made a smashing NH sire. Irish National Stud were refusing good NH mares for him. Not sure why as he was never making it as a flat sire and then they shipped him of to italy.

The two mares had gone to him before and had got nice two year olds so we were expecting the same this time around but it never materialised

They had done well with him before we were trying to get rid of them and we got a very very good deal on the two mares. I see your point but it was a proven cross so it was worth a punt

Well its a good thing you are now out of them,if I had a couple of mares who had bred some nice sorts by CS and wanted to sell them perhaps I would have sent them to something far more commercial than him but capitalised off the mares success, the fact they have bred a nice horse by him in foal to something decent would only increase your return. But well done for getting out!

They didnt sell great but we had to get out of them. I know what you mean but there was a good deal put to us and we said we'd try it. I agree that he is no way commercial but it was a risk using him and it didnt turn out to bad for usHappy
