I suppose another question to ask would be: Which stallion has given the best sales average over the last couple of seasons in comparison to its fee?

Most of the auction houses provide downloadable Excel S/sheets of their sales returns from their websites. In some cases going back a reasonable numbers of years. Getting stallion fees is an entirely different matter, and of course advertised fee and fee paid are most definitely not one and the same thing.

Sam,of course there is!It comes down to a number of factors such as how good your mare is ie is she going to enhance that stallions sales return and who you are,if she has produced winners. Stallion owners/managers will always offer discounts for dams of black type horses or sisters to the same,it is rather like the advertised fee is just a guide and ALWAYS negotiable its grey area, you could be surprised at just how little some good stallions are available at.

Fascinating stuff, would love to find out more on this but appreciate a public internet forum isnt the place.
Would studs reduce or waive any other fees (boarding costs, vets costs etc) for the right mare?

Sam its ALL negotiable,YOU have the power to get what you want at the price you want,be brave and see what you can get.Stallion owners/managers are like car salesmen they offer a product, negotiate for the price you are willing to pay.

P.D. I've decided if I have the power to get what I want then it's 2 Dubawi's 4 Montjeu's, ditto Pivotal and a Danehill Dancer, for which I shall be paying £29.78. What a fathead I've been all these years. . .[;)]

As I said previously the advertised price is a guide. A guide to the level the stallion is at and a guide to the type of mare he is getting (or likely to get). If your mare is slightly better than his average mate then you should get a better than average discount, if she would be a slightly lesser mare then that is reflected in the price. To go back to the car salesmen, I could deal all I liked in a showroom but I wouldn't get an Aston Martin for Mondeo money, however much I might want to!!BUT if I was part exchanging a Ferrari then the difference to pay may not be so far off.
Pot'M, If only it was like that entirely! As I said previously the advertised price is a guide. A guide to the level the stallion is at and a guide to the type of mare he is getting (or likely to get). If your mare is slightly better than his av
