Sorry no I don't,he must be here somewhere,its amazing  he is his doing well,don't think he ever got more than about 10 mares.

I'm not sure he is underestimated just unknown. Those who have noticed cannot fail to be impressed.
Could he still be owned by Mrs Patino? Perhaps she'll use her Oaks winnings to give him a relaunch. It would be a terrible struggle mind to do it as I'm sure we all know.
Another disadvantage of the industry as it stands, but I'll keep dreaming that a horse like him could still drag himself up from nowhere!

This is getting pretty serious! Does anyone think that a higher profile stud might risk a re-branding excersise? In the past it's been the sort of thing that the Irish national might have had a go at perhaps - are times too tough now?
Any thoughts?

wouldnt take too much notice of sales prices because most of them were bought back! only covered 30 mares this season!

Has anyone seen this stallion?I haven't, looking in Racehorses 2003 he looks a bit light of bone not the most impressive sort,has anyone looked at his foals?Can't remember seeing a single one,completely of the radar,I would like to see him poss' with a view to sending him one next year.

I'm sure if you rang his owner she would send on pics. She's having a great run with her horses. They are winning left right and centre. Fair dues to her for supporting her own. Reminds me of Erins Isle and Project Manager that put Bolger off the radar for ten years.....bar the odd Jet Ski Lady and St Jovite!

I found a stud portrait (Google big bad bob + sid fernando)and you can kind of see why he gets a 2yo that then trains on. Lovely shoulder and depth with quality then l.o.b. and tails of a bit behind. I would want to consider what mare to send carefully, but perfectly feasible I think.

PD"...gamble".  He only E2,700 and is a half brother to G3 winners Palavicini (Giants Causeway) & Elusive Pimpernel (Elusive Quality).  In my very uninformed and inexperieced view I think you are wrong.

Maybe you should wait for Elusive Pimpernel to go stud as he was decent at 2 so might get early types (which I gather from other threads is v important to you) and Elusive Quality is by Gone West who I believe you are a fan of from the "Motivator thread"?

Elusive Pimpernel is a huge horse, they thought they'd never get him on the track apparently

Posh Paddy,You have a point with Big Bad Bob,its not much money really,the mare I may use him on has no value really she is just my pet,but saying that all her runners are winners only handicaps,but as I run them myself why not use him.
Elusive Pimpernel he's one I don't like as I agree with neill d he is far too big I don't want a lovely 4/5 y'old but I do like both Elusive Quality and of course Gone West,my mare is 16.1hh by a very good stallion so I tend to stick with smallish strong early sorts,she works well with Danehill line stallions or Green Desert sons,I have wondered about Paco Boy as his dam line is very similar to hers he is a good tough sort but it does depend on how much and what stud he goes to,I can't afford too much with her so I'd better start saving

i saw this horse as a 3y0 it had some engine on it but sometimes pulledto hard. went very wide in the chester vase cost it the race then didnt stay in the king edwardat r ascot.  had a massive bet for me when it won pulling a cart at haydock on its next run. not surprised its doing well at stud  , was a fast horse . what would it have been if it had of settled better?  anyway not surprised hes doing well at stud, must be one of the best value stallions to say the least. handsome is as handsome does an hes done well .

FYI,Snow Fairy's (DUAL CLASSIC WINNER)dam Woodland Dream is a half sister to BBB.

I have wondered about Paco Boy as his dam line is very similar to hers he is a good tough sort but it does depend on how much and what stud he goes to.

Now we know where he is going but not the price yet,I was only saying yesterday about the stallion boxes at Highclere being so scruffy,perhaps John Warren has been out doing some DIY,but lets hope Paco Boy is popular with breeders,with the Hannon factor behind him it should help.

THE Irish National Stud has secured its second stallion deal in the last week, with the news that it will stand Big Bad Bob next year.

Unlike the other new recruit, Lord Shanakill, who has been retired from racing, Big Bad Bob is an active sire having covered mares at Islanmore Stud since 2006.

Now 10, the son of Bob Back has earned "huge praise for siring a high percentage of stakes-calibre horses from small crops and limited opportunities," according to Irish National Stud chief executive John Osborne.

He added: “Big Bad Bob has earned his reputation by siring horses that trainers love – tough, sound battlers with a will win."

Owned and Bred by Cristina Patino, who also races Snow Fairy, Big Bad Bob is a half-brother to the dual Oaks winner's dam, Woodland Dream. Trained by John Dunlop, Big Bad Bob won four times as a juvenile, including the Autumn Stakes at Ascot.

"Mrs Patino has supported him through several seasons and wishes him to get the opportunity to reach a wider market, said Osborne. "The staff at Islanmore have done a tremendousjob and we will be working closely with them as Mrs Patino expects to maintain her strong support for the horse."

Via her Windflower Holdings, Mrs Patino bred one of Big Bad Bob's leading performers, Berg Bahn, a Group 3 winner who finished third and fourth in the UAE 1,000 Guineas and Oaks. The stallion's two-year-old daughter Bible Belt finished third in Sunday’s CL Weld Park Stakes, beaten two heads.

Didnt see him potm but if your sending one over id send her to Amadeus Wolf he is looking good for the coming season and no guarantees that BBB will have a good year. If AW done well this year you'd be all smiles but on the other hand if he didnt. I am sure people will find this post strange but you have to look at it like that

Yes that's a point Rip Van but perhaps Pot M could look at sending her to Dandy Man 2nd season,another son of the late Mozart and one with a much better page.If Amadeus Wolf does well then buyers will go into Dandy Man if AW does badly well I still think DM will be given a chance but always your risk will be less as his fee is a lot lower.We are sending DM a mare this term and have him at a very good price he imo offers great value he has a similar sort of profile to Acclamation but is much better looking than either of the other two stallions spoken about on this post.Give it some thought Potentialmillionaire.

This particular mare will not go to a dodgy year stallion. I have no choice but to use a year 3 horse as it is this season and I will categorically not use the wrong year on any other mare. This mare is about to foal to a wrong year near disaster and is now deserving of some help! (as is my bank balance so it's 1st or proven with this mating.

I am keen on Dandy man and have looked into buying a mare in foal to him but the few in at Goffs are not good are they.

How many mares did he cover this year?

He covered about 80 mares, he was being limited to that kind of number, this year.

Bible Belt ran some race in the Qipco Champion Fillies stakes at Ascot !

Another one who started off with a low profile who let his progeny do the talking. His first proper crop of yearlings have sold amazingly well.
