Just been looking at some of the progeny of Giant's Gauseway, who stands in the US at USD100,000, in particular those that have run at Kempton.
I'm astounded by how unsuccesful they seem to be considering the sums paid.

Got a decent all weather record overall, what is his Kempton record out of interest? I'm a big fan of him, reckon he'll get even better mares for the next couple of years, picking up Storm Cat's old ones.

Have I got this right your questioning Giant Causeways fee on his Kempton runners stats. I think his $100,000 fee is more on him been last years North American Champion Sire think he was the sire with most stakes winners aswell in North America.

Why does Storm Cat not show up under Stormbird sired horses ( ratings ) on the Racing Post website ?

Storm Cat ran before the Racing Post kept records of form so he wouldn't appear on there. Personally would like to see them go back and add significant older horses' records, don't see why they don't to be honest.

Just checked out his race record was a very good 2yo in America, just beaten in the Breeders Cup Juvenile.

His most expensive yearling runs tomorrow in Dubai, Jalil.

He's a nice looking horse from the photos I've seen and obviously has a good pedigree so probably the plan at some point. Not sure he'll get the 9.7 million back still though!

Depends on his price surely? Wouldn't have thought he'd be standing in Britain anyway due to him being a dirt horse.

I remember Nick Mordin raving about this horses speed figure when he won the Gpr 2 race in Dubai , think he tipped him against Curlin in the World Cup.

he has been somewhat disapointing relative to expectations entering stud but he is the sire of the current KY Derby fav Eskerendaya

I think it`s fair to say GC has not delivered on his initial promise, particularly in Europe.
His first crop was exceptional but now he seems more likely to sire a champion chase winner than a Gr1 miler! Still never detract from his performances on the racecourse though. What a horse! |

My initial reason for starting the thread, was not to knock GC, merely to point out that his progeny are doing rather badly over 7/8f at Kempton. My theory is that they need 10f.

Very impressive, worthy favourite although was a really slow pace and Awesome Act pulled like a train for 75% of the race.

Didn`t see it but he appears to be the one to beat in Kentucky. Not before time he`s got a decent dirt animal!

For sure, a performance like that gets people talking, especially as it's his second time doing it. Still the Lexington and Blue Grass Stakes to go which could shake things up further.

Just to add, the first time he did that sort of performance the two horses behind him got a 1-2 in their next race, a Group 1, so the form may be stacking up...
