Hull v Coventry
I still think, given their home form and the games they have left at the Ricoh Arena, that Coventry can be laid for relegation at 1.91.
And a point or three is well within their reach in this game to aid their cause. I've made plenty of the fact that the Sky Blues have not won on the road all season, and I'm certainly not confident enough to go all out for an away win. But Andy Thorn's side have drawn their last two away games, most notably a fine 2-2 result at Cardiff. That has helped them go five without a defeat - they appear to have found a way to make themselves hard to beat at just the right time.
Hull, on the other hand, are on the slide. They were fifth at the end of January, but a run of one win in 10 has seen them drop to ninth. They have not won...
Birmingham v Nottingham Forest
There is little doubt that Birmingham are very much a team to have on your side at the moment. I'm no rocket scientist: just look at the current form table. The Blues have not lost since December 19, a run of 11 league games that extends to 15 matches if you add in four FA Cup ties including Saturday's draw at Chelsea.
Of particular interest is their defensive record: Chris Hughton's side have conceded just six goals in those 15 games, and they have kept four consecutive clean sheets at St Andrews. So, I'm scratching my head as to why we can back them at such an attractive price to maintain that run against the team with the joint-worst goalscoring record in the division!
Admittedly Forest have found the net in each of their last three games,...
Peterborough v Bristol City
Is it too early to start throwing in the phrase 'six pointer'? Probably not. Especially when you consider that there is only a third of the season to go and both these sides are lingering uncomfortably close to the drop zone.
Bristol City were bottom, rose to 19th, but a run of one win in six has put the skids under them again. They have failed to keep a clean in any of those six, and that will surely be a worry visiting London Road, where goals fly in at an alarming rate. Posh average two a game at home - a rate only bettered by four teams in the division - yet they let them in nearly as fast and have the worst home defensive record in the Championship.
You could look at this fixture and say 'cagey', but I don't think Peterborough know how to...
Barnsley v Ipswich
I know Christmas is around the corner but, seriously? Are the layers already in the festive spirit offering us 2.1 to back Barnsley? Only Cardiff sit above the Tykes in the current form table, with Keith Hill's side having won five of their last six to climb from 19th to eighth in the table. They have been particularly strong at Oakwell, winning their last five and conceding just two goals in the process.
Ipswich are at the opposite end of the form table to their hosts, having lost all of their last seven games. Defensively they have been a shambles, conceding a whopping 20 goals during that losing run. Even going ahead does little to help the Tractor Boys; they have led in three of their last four games and still managed to lose. Paul Jewell's side have the...
