Birmingham v Southampton
Just a month ago Birmingham were 14th in the table - four consecutive league victories later and they sit fourth. If you add in FA Cup successes against Wolves and Sheffield United, the Blues have won their last six and are unbeaten in 10 in all competitions.
They are the only team in the Championship protecting an undefeated home record, and have been scoring goals for fun: 20 in their last six games. The fact they are hosting Southampton is probably offering us slightly fatter odds than if they were playing at home to just about anyone else.
The Saints have stuttered slightly of late, but you still have to admire what has been an outstanding season for a side that, never forget, was in League One last season. The Saints topped the table from mid-September...
Nottingham Forest v Burnley

Here we have the team with the worst current form at home hosting the team with the best current form away: someone tell me, then, why Nottingham Forest are favourites? Forest, meanwhile, have lost five on the trot at home and not scored in any of them. Throw in the goalless FA Cup tie with Leicester, and Steve Cotterill's side have not scored in front of their own fans in nine hours of football stretching back to mid-November. Such ...
Barnsley v Ipswich
I know Christmas is around the corner but, seriously? Are the layers already in the festive spirit offering us 2.1 to back Barnsley? Only Cardiff sit above the Tykes in the current form table, with Keith Hill's side having won five of their last six to climb from 19th to eighth in the table. They have been particularly strong at Oakwell, winning their last five and conceding just two goals in the process.
Ipswich are at the opposite end of the form table to their hosts, having lost all of their last seven games. Defensively they have been a shambles, conceding a whopping 20 goals during that losing run. Even going ahead does little to help the Tractor Boys; they have led in three of their last four games and still managed to lose. Paul Jewell's side have the...
